Marisi was a leonin from the Alaran shard of Naya and secondary antagonist from Magic: the Gathering. He was a pawn for the dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas and was responsible for the instability on the shard.
History[]
Marisi was one of the oldest Leonin in all of Naya. The Planeswalker Nicol Bolas aided Marisi in exchange for him bringing disdain between the wild and cloud Nacatl. He became known as the "Beaker of the Coil" because he caused an uprising against Nacatl laws(also known as the Coil) and convinced many of the wild Nacatl to abandon them. This led the wild Nacatl to become more aggressive than usual. Marisi broke the Coil and he and his followers were banished to the grounds of Naya away from the cloud Nacatl. For a long time, Marisi faded into myth, but he returned during the beginning of the Alara block. Marisi was instrumental in the murder of Jazal Goldmane, the leader of the Wild Nacatl. Jazal's brother Ajani was devastated at the loss of his brother. This event not only fueled his rage and set him on a path of vengeance, but also ignited his spark to become a Planeswalker. With Jazal disposed of, Marisi convinced the other wild Nacatl to wage war against the cloud Nacatl. While this battle was waged, Nicol Bolas drained the mana from Alara's core to increase his power. Marisi soon met his end at the hands of another Nacatl named Zaliki. He used the creatures that murdered Jazal to murder Marisi and managed to unite the Nacatl to stop Bolas.
