Here lies Cynthia Snell. She lived her life and went straight to... I can't read the rest.
~ Arnold reading the headstone of Cynthia Snell, a.k.a. the Ghost Bride.

Cynthia Snell, better known as the Ghost Bride, is the overarching antagonist of the Hey Arnold! episode "Ghost Bride".

She killed her sister and former fiancé before committing suicide by jumping out the window after she had been cheated at the altar. She was said to haunt the cemetery, rising from the dead in search for victims who trespass her grave.

She was voiced by Francesca Smith.

Biography[]

Before her deadly deed, Cynthia was in love with her fiancé named Jack. She counted the days leading up to their marriage, hoping that "they would always love each other and live happily ever after". However, on the day she was supposed to be married, Cynthia realized that Jack had skipped the wedding and left her standing for hours at the altar. She soon discovered that Jack cheated on her after falling in love with her sister, Courtney; the two married the next day. Later that night, Cynthia put on her wedding dress, found a sharp axe and walked several blocks to her sister's house. Finding both Courtney and Jack together in bed, Cynthia axed them to death in their sleep. When the police arrived, they found her sitting in a rocking chair next to the dead bodies, throwing rice and smiling while humming the Wedding March. She then jumped out the window, taking her own life to avoid arrest.

Every year, on the anniversary of the double-murder and suicide, she rises from her grave in search for more victims.

Trivia[]

  • The story of Cynthia Snell was partially inspired by Lizzie Borden.
  • Due to censors, the final word inscribed on Cynthia's gravestone was deliberately left illegible, but it is heavily implied to be "Hell".
