I always play by the rules.
~ - Nixon, expressing his philosophy.

"Nixon" (real name unknown) is one of the antagonists from the 2020 Quibi series Most Dangerous Game. He is a British gentleman who participates in human hunts hosted by the enigmatic businessman Miles Sellars.

He is played by Chris Webster, who also played KJ Kliner in Reacher.

Biography[]

Background:[]

Little is known about Nixon's background. However, based on his accent, clothing, and car, he appears to be a member of the British upper class. At some point he got in touch with Miles Sellars. Sellars hosted human hunts where a person would be hunted by his clients for 24 hours; for every hour they survived, they would win increasing amounts of money.

Years ago Nixon participated in a hunt in Johannesburg, South Africa. He found and killed the target very quickly, which disappointed him. Nixon is a "veteran" who has participated in many hunts.

The Detroit Hunt:[]

Nixon was chosen to be one of five hunters in a 2020 hunt in Detroit. The target was Dodge Tynes (Liam Hemsworth), a struggling father-to-be and ex-athlete. Nixon tracks Dodge to the Renaissance Center and enters an elevator with him. Dodge correctly assumes he is a hunter and flees into a bathroom. Nixon finds him hiding in a stall but takes the time to call Sellars and demand a refund for the hunt being "too easy." Dodge uses the distraction to kick the stall door, knocking Nixon down and allowing him to him escape.

Nixon pursues Dodge but runs into Reagan, a Southern redneck hunter he despises for being "uncouth." The two argue over the game rules. Nixon threatens to castrate Reagan with one of his knives. Nixon leaves and tracks a wounded Dodge to an alley. A policeman finds them, and Nixon pretends to be Dodge's "friend" helping him out. Once the cop leaves, Dodge flees again and escapes on a train just as Nixon throws a knife at the window.

Nixon continues to pursue Dodge across the city. He engages in a car chase with Dodge and his friend at night, but the two evade him. After Dodge acquires a gun, Sellars allows Nixon to use a gun, which excites him. Finally, the three surviving hunters track Dodge to an abandoned factory. Dodge and his friend kill the other 2 hunters and set the building on fire, but Nixon escapes just as it explodes.

Fate:[]

Dodge goes to the Carrington build site to rescue his wife (who Sellars kidnapped). Nixon is waiting in ambush and tries to shoot him. He chases Dodge to the top floor, but puts away his gun when he sees Dodge has lost his. The two men fight, and Nixon kicks Dodge onto a ledge. He is about to stab Dodge's hand when the sun comes up. The hunt is now over. Nixon suddenly offers Dodge his hand and congratulates him and his wife on a "good game." He walks away smiling and whistling.

Personality[]

Good show, Mr. Tynes. Bloody good show.

Nixon is a prim, proper, and psychotic British gentleman. He sees hunting humans as simply a game and gets upset when his "prey" is too easy to catch. His prissy attitude alienates him from the other hunters; Reagan calls him a "tea-sipping nancyboy" and "Mr. Belvedere." Miles Sellars calls him a "condescending asshole" when Nixon complains about how guns are banned in the hunt. His ethical code seems entirely built around the game rules. He only spares Dodge's life because the game ended right as he was about to kill him.

Trivia[]

  • All of the five hunters use pseudonyms based on U.S. Presidents; Nixon is named for Richard Nixon
  • Nixon was the only hunter to survive the hunt
