Uto and Pia are the main antagonists of the 2020 Battletoads reboot. They are the dual leaders of the Topians.
Uto was voiced by Tony Daniels (credited as Mike Rose) and Pia was voiced by Drew Droege.
Appearance[]
Uto[]
Uto appears as a large purple upside-down triangle with a yellow stripe going down from the tip. His crown is shaped like a "U". His cloud is turquoise in color, which he says were nebulas stolen from the Zorthos galaxy.
Pia[]
Pia appears as a green hexagon with two yellow stripes on his bottom half. His crown consists of two parts with a circular object in-between them. His cloud is pink in color and comes in two parts that he can move similarly to arms, with two other cloudy spots protruding around his eyehole like a mustache.
Biography[]
Prior to the game's events, Uto and Pia locked away the Battletoads within a fantasy simulator bunker and stole the energy of the Dark Queen so they could take over the universe with no one capable of stopping them. Twenty-six years later, the Battletoads escape from the bunker and discover the carnage committed by the Topians, mistaking it as the work of the Dark Queen. After learning the truth, the Battletoads decide to team up with her to stop the Topians.
After the Battletoads steal a Topian spaceship with the help of the Dark Queen, Rash comments that he and the others are coming after the Topian leaders and destroy them. A Topian cop asks his leaders what they should do about the Battletoads and Dark Queen, with Uto responding to alert the galaxy to kill them as he was busy waiting on a sandwich. Later, the two are seen observing the torture of the Guardian for failing to defeat the heroes. The Topian cop announces that they failed to capture the Battletoads and Dark Queen. Pia zaps him causing him to shrink by three inches and demands him to bring them to him or risk a heavier punishment by giving him dry skin.
After saving Pimple, the Topians capture the Battletoads and the Dark Queen and take them to their homeworld. When Uto and Pia order the prisoners to kneel to them, the Dark Queen scoffs how she came to destroy them and demands them to give her back her powers. Uto promptly disintegrates the Dark Queen into sand by scattering her beyond the infinitesimal plane and consumes her remains. The Battletoads promptly kneel to avoid becoming blasted next.
Uto and Pia then have the Battletoads become icons to distract the populace of Topian City from the atrocities they've done. During an interview at a talk show, Uto has stomach pain (really the Dark Queen emerging from the infinitesimal plane and attempting to punch her way out). Pia has Uto drink juice for internal cleansing, something he hadn't done in 4,000 years. Uto then vomits out the Dark Queen, and the two quickly restrain her. They suggest that the Battletoads kill her in front of their audience. Rash tricks the Topians into giving the Dark Queen her powers back so he could have a real challenge, only for him to free her and the others from their restraints. Uto attempts to zap them only for the Dark Queen to reflect it onto the floor and they make their getaway.
As the Battletoads fight their way through the Topian soldiers, Uto and Pia make an illusion where the Battletoads end up on the nightmare bikes, forcing them to relive one of the most difficult levels from the NES Battletoads. Fortunately, the Battletoads avoid the obstacles, much to the Topians' anger. They decide to warp the Battletoads to them so they could kill them instead. Once defeated, the Topians attempt to blast a massive laser at the Battletoads, only for the Dark Queen to suppress it with a laser of her own. With support from the Battletoads, the Dark Queen overwhelms Uto and Pia and destroys them, freeing the universe from their tyranny.
