Mepps is a supporting antagonist in Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, and a member of Fat Cat's Gang.

He was voiced by Peter Cullen.

Appearance[]

Mepps is an orange cat with yellow sclera with green irises and a red nose. He dons a blue beanie hat with cut outs for his ears and a blue vest.

Biography[]

Mepps appears in "Adventures in Squirrelsitting", where he is shown chatting with Snout at Fat Cat's casino. He later dances along with Fat Cat and other goons during a song. When the Rescue Rangers get exposed, Fat Cat then makes a joke which Mepps and everyone present laughs at.

In "Flash the Wonder Dog", when Fat Cat is furious that Flash the Wonder Dog is on the air, he summons Mepps, Mole, Snout and Wart to his office in order to arrange the kidnapping of Flash and ruin his reputation as a hero in hopes of ensuring people will only like hot dogs. They proceed to ambush him in his room and kidnap him. They proceed to impersonate him and commit various crimes under his name. When the Rescue Rangers trail Flash to a condemned building they find it guarded by a sleeping Mepps. However, due to Monty not resisting the cheese, Mepps caught wind of their presence and catches them in the act of saving Flash. But they manage to escape by blinding Mepps with his beanie. Later, Mepps heads to Fat Cat to report Flash's escape only for Fat Cat to send him down a trap door. When Flash was outrunning the tv staff, Fat Cat's goons help Fat Cat get his disguise on in an attempt on Conrad's life. However, they get foiled when Fat Cat's disguise gets blown and they get washed out with a firehose.

In "Parental Discretion Retired", Mepps along with Mole and Wart fish on a boat trying to catch fish. When Chip tried to save his team and Charlie who he thought could drowned, he accidentally throws himself into the boat on which Fat Cat's gang were on. When they discover him they plan to torture him but are stopped from doing so when Charlie holds Mepps' tail, distracting him which gives Zipper a chance to put a fishing tackle's hook on Mepps' shirt which a fish accompanying the heroes then drags Mepps with it and crushes him into the boat. Mepps then goes underwater to catch the fish, thanks to the device that Wart give him he brainwashes the fish to act like a chicken and captures it afterwards. The Rescue Rangers later find their hideout and attempt to stop them but they get captured, expect Chip and Dale. They later free them but thanks to Charlie they get captured by Fat Cat and his goons again. Just as Fat Cat prepares to finish them off, Chip and Dale use the hypnotizing device to brainwash Mepps, Mole and Wart to act like dogs who then chase Fat Cat until he gets stuck in a hole. They push him through the hole and all of them then fall into the water.

In "A Lad in a Lamp", Mepps accompanies Fat Cat and his gang on a ship where they are waiting to get a package containing a lamp from a One-Eyed Pelican. When the pelican delivers the lamp to Fat Cat, he double-crosses him and orders his minions to assault him. However, the pelican gets his revenge by stealing the lamp from him. When Fat Cat tells them to stop him, Wart says they don't have anything to throw at him. So he grabs him and throws him into the pelican but also loses sight of the lamp when it fell into the water. Fat Cat and his minions then search for it but the lamp is found by Monty. When they try to take it back, Monty makes a wish that the genie grants by teleporting them to their house with Fat Cat failing to get the lamp back. Later, Mepps, Mole and Wart find the lamp (unaware that Monty had switched places with the genie) and bring it back to their headquarters but then argue over who will make a wish. Fat Cat then steps in and plans to use the genie to grant his wishes in ruling the world. When Fat Cat is surprised the genie turns out to be Monty, he wishes he could flat him with something. Monty grants the wish and an anvil falls on top of Fat Cat, realizing that the wish came true he is amused and prepares to wish to take over the world. Later, Fat Cat wished for the Rescue Rangers to appear in his base but when he wishes for them to be turned to dust Monty tells him he runned out of his wishes so he asks his minions to wish for his wishes. Monty later tricks Mepps into wishing for ranger toys and fish. When everything seems to get ouf of control Fat Cat and his minions try to get the lamp back but Monty wished for none of this to ever happen which his friends wished for and granted it. Thus preventing all the events that took in this episode to never happen.

In "Battle of the Bulge", Mepps, Mole and Wart steal fruit from a truck (unaware that the Rescue Rangers were in one of the boxes) and bring it in to their base. Fat Cat is impressed by them getting something done right but gets disappointed when he finds out they didn't bring pears. Just as Fat Cat is about to angrily punish them with a pineapple they are saved by the bell when the bats arrive. Later, when the bats steal more fruit they also mistakenly captured Chip and Dale in the process. Fat Cat orders his minions to get them. Just as they corner them they are distracted by the shaking ground. Turns out Gadget set a helicopter's hook to open wide the cat statue's mouth sending everyone and all the fruit falling with Mepps, Mole and Wart landing in trash cans.

In "Ghost of a Chance", Mepps assists Fat Cat and his gang to England. When they arrive to an abandoned castle they try to get in by pushing a wall which takes them inside the castle. They then go around the castle searching for treasure they came for but Fat Cat's gang think the place is haunted by ghosts, Fat Cat assures them that there is no such thing as ghosts (which he is actually wrong about). Fat Cat later has Mepps, Mole and Wart dress up as a scary ghost cat to scare away the Rescue Rangers. When they don't leave the place, the ghost cat strikes them again, this time being caught by Fat Cat. Later, Monty faces the ghost cat and punches him in the face, falling down the stairs in the process. Fat Cat's minions then run away.

In "Last Train to Cashville", Mepps assists Fat Cat and his gang in their theft of gold by using a stolen toy train to switch real gold bars with cement bricks painted gold. They ride on a train until they get cornered by the Rescue Rangers, but due to Dale not getting sleep when watching television very late, they go to rescue him while Fat Cat's gang get away. Later, Fat Cat and his gang break into an animal store where they plant train tracks as they steal gold. While working, Mole accidentally sprays Mepps with a spray can. When the Rescue Rangers try to stop them they get captured due to Dale's interference. Fat Cat at first plans to run them over with the train but changes his mind and puts them in a glass box containing a snake. While they get to watch as the heroes are about to be eaten by the snake, their scheme is foiled when Dale and Zipper remove the train tracks. Dale then drives the train and crashes into Fat Cat with it while Zipper frees some dogs to chase away his gang from the store making them all retreat.

In "Robocat", Mepps, Mole and Wart assist Fat Cat in breaking into a house so he can eat a fish. When Mepps prepares to attack Butch with a hammer from behind, Mole distracts him which results in Mepps getting scared by the dog and dropping the hammer on Mole's feet, much to his pain. Butch then scares away Fat Cat from eating Luna and sends him flying crashing through the window making Fat Cat and his gang retreat. Later, Fat Cat and his gang meet Tom who says he likes Fat Cat's fur and wishes he had one too. So Fat Cat promises him to get him one as he recruits him to his services. However, Fat Cat didn't keep his promise and shuts him off. Discovering he had a friendly personality installed in him he orders his gang to go to a store to get a violent video game to reprogram him. When he reprograms him into a violent robot as well as breaking the switch off in the process, he tells him to get Luna and also shows a picture of Butch and tells him that he is an enemy and orders him to annihilate him, ripping the picture into shredds. He breaks into the house and succeeds in his task and brings Luna to Fat Cat's lair. There, Fat Cat and his gang are preparing to cook Luna but the Rescue Rangers rescue her from them and send a pie in their faces.

In "To the Rescue", after Fat Cat swipes the Clutchcoin Ruby from Klordane, he sneaks off with it to show it to Mepps, Mole and Wart who assist him alongside Juice-Lee later in stealing fish caught via fishing boats. However, they lose Juice-Lee who gets launched into a glass with fake teeth and the fish get returned to the boats they were stolen from.

In "One-Upsman-Chip", Mepps assists Fat Cat and his gang in stealing a pearl from a clam in which Mepps and Mole successfully steal from until they are cornered by the Rescue Rangers who were prepared for them. As they assault them, however, due to Dale's incompetence they manage to get away with the pearl. However, it was all staged as the real pearl was hidden on the ceiling and the pearl they took with them was actually in fact a bowling ball when Fat Cat realized it. He then used it to knock his whole gang due to their stupidity. Fat Cat then planned to go back there and get the pearl but due to the fact that there's a shark guarding it now he comes with an idea that his gang capture at least one Rescue Ranger. They manage to successfully capture Dale who was being pranked by Chip in the park. They then bring him to their base and to Fat Cat. Fat Cat and his gang then try using him as bait for the shark while Mepps and Mole steal the pearl. However, Dale with Chip's assistance tells Fat Cat he has mystical powers. Fat Cat doesn't believe him but the Rescue Rangers use all different kinds of stuff in the restaurant to attack Fat Cat and his gang which makes them afraid of him. They then get flushed away by water when the water tank breaks.

In "Shell Shocked", Fat Cat orders Mepps along with the rest of the gang to steal seashells so that he can use them to command all the fish in the sea. They succeed in catching the fish but thanks to the Rescue Rangers who were caught in the process as well they freed them. Later, Mepps and Mole make a throne for Fat Cat to sit on. However, it falls apart so he tells them to rebuild it. When Mepps tries to get an object on a wall that he thinks would look nice on the throne Fat Cat smacks it with a boot and to his surprise the Rescue Rangers fall out of the holes from there. He disposes of them by throwing them in a boot out of the window into the ocean. However, they survive and thwart Fat Cat's plan to sell the fish to several cats in exchange for jewels and diamonds when the crabs help them cut a fish net setting all the fish free. When Fat Cat realizes all the fish are gone he and his minions get beat up by the cats in anger for all the fish escaping.

In "When You Fish Upon a Star", Mepps along with the rest of the gang assist Fat Cat in breaking into a ship and steal all the cargo containing fish. However, they sunk the wrong ship but take the cargo that was there anyway. They then travel to an island on their boat where they encounter Gadget and Zipper who they capture in the process. They later also capture the rest of the Rescue Rangers who walked right into their trap and they gave them to a lobster. They then try to sunk the ship that does in fact contain the cargo they want. However, Zipper gets the attention of the fireflies when posing as a girl. With this scheme thwarted, Fat Cat proceeds to catch the ship anyway. But their boat gets sunk and get captured by the Rescue Rangers who plan to bring them to the locals.

In "A Lean on the Property", Mepps and the gang carry Fat Cat around the city until they are chased around by dogs. Luckily, they manage to escape them with Fat Cat planning to get rid of all dogs by recruiting several moles to his services by digging underground causing several destruction to the city. Later, Mepps guards the entrance to Fat Cat's base by walking back and forth as well as counting while the Rescue Rangers sneak in unnoticed. When Kate gets captured by Fat Cat, he has Mepps and Snout raise her up on a rope on the top of a building. While Monty attempts to rescue his mother the Rescue Rangers plan on convincing the moles to stop digging, however, they get captured by Fat Cat and his minions who then bring them to work as slaves alongside the moles. The Rescue Rangers though manage to convince the moles to turn against Fat Cat when they tell them he would be a king which they didn't like the sound of so they ambush Fat Cat along with Mepps and beat them up while Snout manages to escape.

His last appearance is in "Gorilla My Dreams", where he searches in a trash can and finds a chicken nugget. Mepps returns to Fat Cat's base where they hold Boots hostage. Mepps proceeds to beat him up with his chicken nugget but is stopped by Fat Cat who tells him to feed him not kill him. The Rescue Rangers then use a device to make gorilla sounds to scare away Fat Cat and his gang to rescue Boots. But Fat Cat notices them and orders his minions to catch them but are stopped with plates that fall on top of their heads. They then break into a building where they find Dale wrapped up in a ball (who they fought was Boots) and capture him and threaten to harm him if Kookoo doesn't do as she is told. Later, Fat Cat and his minions hide in a candy factory where they discover their hostage is actually Dale and Fat Cat proceeds to finish him off angrily but Kookoo begs him not to harm him. So he decides to hold Dale hostage so that Kookoo will do as he says. When Kookoo fails to steal diamonds just as Fat Cat wanted he isn't angry, instead he plans to steal a bigger diamond but Kookoo refuses to steal anymore so Fat Cat threatens to turn Dale into chocolate which forces her to obey him. The Rescue Rangers and Boots arrive at the base and ambush Fat Cat's gang who make them retreat. They defeat Fat Cat and his minions and escape. When Fat Cat tries to stop the Rescue Rangers from reaching Kookoo he throws Mepps down to knock them out but Kookoo saves them with Mepps grabbing onto her and steps to a safer ground. After Fat Cat's attempted theft of a massive diamond was foiled, Mepps jumps down after him and his gang where they land in a barrel.
