Everything, is for the glory of my master...
~ Gigantomachia referring to All For One.
A king... is one... who commands respect. Someone who is strong.
~ Gigantomachia after seeing Tomura Shigaraki again.

Gigantomachia (in Japanese: ギガントマキア, Gigantomakia) is a major antagonist of the manga/anime series My Hero Academia. He is the giant loyal servant of All For One and a member of the League of Villains and the Paranormal Liberation Front.

Prior to the rise of the league, Gigantomachia remained isolated in the woods. After listening to the news about Stain's capture on his radio, Gigantomachia began to emerge and prepare for the inevitable. He eventually discovered the League of Villains under Tomura Shigaraki's leadership, following the supervillain in their plans of domination.

He is voiced by Yasuhiro Mamiya in Japanese and Cris George in English.

Appearance[]

Gigantomachia is a kaiju-sized individual who stands about 9 or 10 meters tall with a muscular body. He has spiky brown hair and parts of his body appear to be jagged, similar to a rock. His teeth are pointed, his lower canines protruding out of his mouth on either side, and he wears bright-black pants. Notably he wore a portable radio wherever he goes.

In the past, he wore a large cloak over him, which shrouded his body in shadows.

Personality[]

Gigantomachia is crying

Gigantomachia's emotional side.

Gigantomachia appears to speak in a mysterious and religious manner. He refers All For One as his "lord" and "master", saying that everything he does is for him. He is mainly shown to be listening to his radio, which either broadcasts a news channel or is simply used to communicate with All For One and Daruma Ujiko.

He is also shown to be rather hot-tempered and impatient, as he slowly began to cause havoc when two girls wouldn't give him the directions to the Pro Hero, Springer's agency. In addition to this, he can also be very emotional, as he broke down into tears when he realized how weak the League of Villains had gotten under Tomura's command while lamenting to All For One that he couldn't accept them. However, he can easily be subdued through the voice of All For One, to the point where he will calm down immediately and purr, showing a very obedient and loyal side to him. Upon witnessing Tomura's success against Re-Destro, however, Gigantomachia has come to accept Tomura as the successor of All For One.

His loyalty, however, has shown its limits. As when he saw how All For One left him behind and came to the realization that All For One sees him as nothing but his tool, he was greatly upset by this. As such, in a fit of rage, Gigantomachia abandoned any loyalty he had towards his former master and decided to turn against him, disregarding the heroes around him.

Biography[]

Background[]

In the past, Gigantomachia was a member of the League of Villains before Tomura was. He once served as All For One’s bodyguard during his reign of terror, it is unknown how long he has been his bodyguard. Thanks to his Endurance Quirk, he and Kyudai Garaki discovered that he can possess multiple Quirks without any modifications, so he was given six extra Quirks in total to make him an unstoppable and monstrous powerhouse of destruction, resulting on seven Quirks in total.

Foreseeing his downfall, All For One decided to hide Gigantomachia in the mountains, using his Mole Quirk that he had provided him. After his injuries by All Might’s hands, he had the Doctor and Gigantomachia find Quirks to help him obtain his full health back. He also advised Gigantomachia to use Machia once he believes to no longer be capable of ensuring Tomura’s safety.

Eijiro,spoy

Gigantomachia in the past.

Gigantomachia was seen in the city, asking for directions to the Pro Hero, Springer, to a couple of school girls. At the same time, his frightening appearance was terrorizing nearby citizens. When he received no answer from either of them, he began to slowly crush a building above them, and a young man named Eijiro Kirishima, who just stood there and watched, fearfully couldn't stand up to him. However, Gigantomachia was stopped by a young girl by the name of Mina Ashido, who gave him false directions. Gigantomachia then proceeded to leave the area. Although Mina broke down into tears after the incident.

Vs. Hero Killer Arc[]

Gigantomachia made a brief appearance in the Vs. Hero Killer Arc where he is seen in the woods, listening to the news about the Hero Killer: Stain. Eventually, Gigantomachia began preparations for the League of Villains.

Internship Arc[]

Kurogiri was out in the woods searching for Gigantomachia, until he was ambushed by Gran Torino and the Police Force. Eventually, Gigantomachia emerges from the woods, where he confronts the group of heroes. It is revealed here that, prior to his arrest, All For One had preparations for both Tomura Shigaraki and Gigantomachia, where if anything were to happen to him, Kurogiri can rely on Gigantomachia.

Meta Liberation Army Arc[]

Gigantomachia’s brute strength

Gigantomachia overpowers the League of Villains.

After Kurogiri was arrested, Gigantomachia went on his own to find the League of Villains. He eventually discovered their hideout and met with Tomura and the rest of his companions. To see if he truly is a worthy successor of All For One, he engages him and the other villains in a battle.

When he finds himself beating them with no difficulty, Gigantomachia breaks down in tears, realizing how weak they are and demanded how All For One could put his hope into Tomura. Ujiko then speaks through the radio and plays a recording of All For One, which manages to calm down Gigantomachia. In the meantime, the other villains were sent to Ujiko's hideout while Gigantomachia was left alone for a bit.

The villains eventually returned back to their hideout after working things out with Ujiko. Tomura then reintroduces himself to Gigantomachia as the "future king", only for Gigantomachia to respond to him, saying a king is someone who respects others and proves he is strong.

A month has passed and Gigantomachia still refuses to accept Tomura as All For One's successor as he continues to attack him and the rest of the villains without warning. Gigantomachia eventually went to sleep for a few hours, while the other villains head out to Deika City. Eventually, as time passed, Gigantomachia got up from his slumber and immediately began to head out into the city after sensing the location of the League of Villains.

He eventually made his way to Deika City, where he proceeded to tear through the Meta Liberation Army to search for Tomura. Gigantomachia continues to cause havoc, eventually coming in conflict with Geten, who was battling Dabi. Geten attempted to restrain him with his ice, but Gigantomachia manages to break free and easily swat him away after detecting Tomura's scent. Gigantomachia eventually reaches the battle between Tomura and Rikiya, but upon reaching the area, he stops after he witnesses Tomura embracing his villainy and achieving his true power by destroying the city.

After Rikiya's defeat and giving up his army to Tomura, Gigantomachia mentally compared the victorious Tomura to All For One and shed a tear of joy, as he finally recognized Tomura as All For One's successor. When the factions of League of Villains fused with the Meta Liberation Army, Gigantomachia is in the crowd witnessing the formation of the Paranormal Liberation Front. Since then Gigantomachia became Tomura’s servant and bodyguard.

Powers[]

Gigantomachia causes destruction in Deika City

Gigantomachia's destructive power.

Gigantomachia is said to be one of the few villains that possess multiple Quirks, despite not being a Nomu, making him an immensely powerful villain and the perfect bodyguard for All For One. In Volume 29, Horikoshi confirmed that he possesses seven Quirks in total, since he was given six extra Quirks along with his original Quirk. These abilities and Quirks of his include:

  • Endurance: Gigantomachia's original Quirk allows him to convert his morale into physical energy and stamina.
  • Pain Blocker: Another one of Gigantomachia's Quirks makes him unable to detect pain, greatly contributing to his immense durability.
  • Gigantification: This Quirk allows Gigantomachia to grow more bigger the more agitated or excited he becomes, this also causes his body to grow bigger during battle. Despite his already beastly-size, he can grow bigger to be 25 meters (82 feet) in height.
  • Dog: This Quirk gives Gigantomachia an enhanced sense of smell, hearing and sight like a dog, to the point where he can pinpoint a target's exact location despite being miles away and it's impossible to attack him while he's asleep.
  • Energy Saver: This Quirk allows Gigantomachia’s body to conserve small amounts of nutrients and water in his body, and as a result, he doesn't need much sleep.
  • Fierce Gains: This Quirk allows Gigantomachia to harden his muscles exceptionally, increasing his defense power.
  • Mole: This Quirk allows Gigantomachia to grow large, mole-like claws from his fingers, increasing the damage of his attacks and allowing him to dig through the earth and tear through large obstacles like cities. This also gives him a visor to shield his eyes from dirt particles, and enlarged spikes on his back to help him slide underground. All For One gave him this Quirk for the purpose to hide underground.

Abilities[]

  • Immense Strength: Gigantomachia has immense brute strength, he was able to grip and crush a concrete building with his fingers and in his encounter with Gran Torino, he was shown to have destroyed a massive portion of a mountain. He can also pulverize landscapes with a single double-fist smash, powerful enough to destroy nearby buildings. He also has enough strength to lift Mt. Lady and toss her out of his way. His monstrous strength is also strong enough to overpower various heroes and cause immense environmental damage, with enhancement through his Mole Quirk. He can even lift a large chunk of a mountain and throw it at All For One. The extent of his strength is currently unknown.
  • Immense Durability: Gigantomachia is shown to possess incredible durability to his skin as none of the attacks from the League of Villains were able to harm him, not even Dabi's fire which has shown to cause great damage to other things.
  • Immense Speed: Gigantomachia possesses incredible running speed, as he rips tree’s out of the ground as he runs pasts them. He can run up to at least 100 kilometers (62.137 miles) per hour.
  • Immense Stamina: Gigantomachia has a good amount of stamina, staying up for 48 hours and 44 minutes without any rest. Thanks to his Endurance Quirk and his Energy Saver Quirk, he seems to be inexhaustible.
  • Immense Endurance: Gigantomachia has incredible physical endurance, in which he ran past 20 cities without stopping, taking a single break, resting, or tiring.
    • Enhanced Breath: Thanks to his increased size and strength, a single breath is enough to blow various U.A students and cause environmental damage to wooded areas.
  • Indomitable Will: Despite lacking any forms of intelligence, Gigantomachia has incredible willpower, this was shown when he resisted being brainwashed by Hitoshi during the Final War.

Overall, Gigantomachia is a terrifyingly powerful villain and arguably one of the most powerful in the series. With his immense brute strength, he was able to fight and easily defeat the combined forces of the League of Villains, with the League even facing him for a month straight but to no further avail. He was also able to face the Pro Hero, Mt. Lady head on and managed to toss the equally gigantic heroine out of his way.

Weaknesses[]

Despite being a tremendous force of power and strength, Gigantomachia appears to lack intelligence for the most part and seems unable of thinking for himself. He requires orders from either one of his masters to perform tasks and only seems capable of coming to his master's aid without the need of a command.
