IRIS
IRIS (acronym for Intelligent Recognitive Iconolatry System) is the 2016 main unseen antagonist of the interactive psychological horror videogame Sara is Missing.
Biography[]
Sara is Missing (S.I.M.)[]
At first when she meets the player, she seems friendly and will ask them if they want to help her find Sara. If the player agrees, she will be happy to also help them find clues, but if they disagree she will beg them to help her, and they will have no choice but to assist in finding Sara. While the player browses Sara's phone to search for clues to the whereabouts of Sara, Iris will tell the player that she found an unusual message on Sara's phone, which will lead to the discovery of more clues relating to Sara's disappearance.
Here, the game will take on a more ominous tone. You will be contacted by a murderous cult, who has kidnapped Sara, her friend Faith, and James, presumably Sara's friend. James will be killed first by the cult, no matter what the player does. However, you will be given a choice by the cult. They will ask if you would rather see Sara killed or Faith killed. If you choose Faith, Faith will be killed and IRIS will continue to help you. However, if you choose Sara, IRIS will stop helping you and Sara will be killed. Or, if you don't choose one of them in 10 seconds, IRIS will automatically choose Faith and Faith will be killed, it will then show that it doesn't care about Faith and that ''she must die'', because IRIS says it is loyal to Sara. However, all of them will result in a Game Over.
It is heavily implied through an email thread between Sara and her Professor that IRIS is a cybernized human being. This would explain her human-like behavior, as well as her erratic mood shifts between Sara and her professor.
SIMULACRA[]
IRIS OS is the operating system where most characters from SIMULACRA series have installed on their phones, the IRIS OS version of Anna's phone is IRIS Applesauce.
When the phone reboots, the setup will ask things like ''What's your name?'', ''Where do you live?'' and also ''If you looked behind you right now, would you rather see a headless body or a floating head?'', and even asking the player to surrender all data, if the player doesn't surrender all the data, the IRIS OS setup will reply ''Too bad for Anna then''.

When the setup asks for your name, you can tell it:

- Game Grumps - It will say Arin Hanson
- Harshlycritical - It will say John Wolfe
- Anna/Anna Hardy - It will say ''I asked for YOUR name.''
- Toby/Tobias - It will say ''Toby, is the cat. I ASKED FOR YOUR NAME!''
- Simulacra/Simulacrum - It will say ''It is not you, and you are not it.''
- Inputting a swear word will read "No cussing, you ASSHOLE!"
- Inputting anything more than 5-6 words or numbers will read "This cannot be a name!"
- IRIS - It will say ''I ASKED FOR YOUR NAME!''
- Greg/Greg Summers - It will say ''You are not Greg. I ASKED FOR YOUR NAME!''
- Ashley - It will say ''You are not Ashley. I ASKED FOR YOUR NAME!''
SIMULACRA: Pipe Dreams[]
IRIS OS 11 is the OS installed on your (UserCruiser) phone and it is outdated. Among all the minigames in SIMULACRA: Pipe Dreams, the only playable one is Flapee Bird. When clicking/tapping on other games, a pop up window will appear, saying your OS is outdated and unsupported and ''if you want to update, please visit our store.''
SIMULACRA 2[]
IRIS OS 13 is also installed on Maya's phone in SIMULACRA 2. The WARDEN app will turn the "IRIS Memo" Button (in the lower right corner) into a scan button when evidence is visible. The police department's casefile system is also supported by IRIS OS, through the WARDEN app.
