This villain was proposed but was rejected by the community for not being heinous enough or lacks what is necessary to be a Pure Evil villain. Therefore, this villain shall be added to our "Never Again List", where proposed villains rejected by the community shall be placed to prevent future proposals of the same evil-doer. They can be proposed again (with the permission of an administrator) if new elements appear in their series that can change their status as non-PE villains.

Any act of adding this villain to the Pure Evil category without a proposal or creating a proposal for this villain without the permission of an administrator will result in a ban.

Jonas is the central antagonist of the Tales From the Crypt episode "Collection Completed" as well as its television re-imagining. In the original comic he is played straight as a horrifically abusive sadist while in the television show he is given slightly more dark comedy leanings, yet both incarnations are notable as being among the most despicable of all the Tales From the Crypt antagonists as his victims are innocent animals and killed to torment his wife.

Biography[]

Comic[]

in the original comic Jonas is a sadistic man who hates animals of all kinds. He also frequently abuses his wife, who is his exact opposite and loves all animals, even adopting a stray cat. Jonas becomes increasingly deranged as he tortures his wife with elaborate displays of violence and taxidermy on a wide number of animals ranging from rats, dogs and birds. He then takes it to the next level and kills the stray cat just to further hurt his wife. This prompts her to savagely murder him and make him into a human taxidermy before succumbing to her own madness, with the story ending with her babbling over the stuffed corpse of her beloved pets and the twisted Jonas.

Television Series[]

The TV series takes a more notably comedic tone (though still dark), with Jonas re-imagined as a man entering retirement who grows increasingly angry at his wife's obsessive love for her many pets. Thus he decides to brutally kill the pets and stuffs them, tormenting her briefly with the evidence before planning on killing a stray cat she had been housing. Unlike in the comic, Jonas fails to kill the cat as his wife goes into a murderous rage and kills him for his crimes.

The episode ends with a taxidermized Jonas sitting stuffed on his chair as his wife casually welcomes a curious neighbor in, who looks in horror at the scene.

Trivia[]

  • The original comic lacks the usual "morality play" elements of Tales From the Crypt as no real lesson is learned and while the evil-doer is punished none of their victims get a proper payback. The television series changed the ending, presumably to avoid the overly sadistic nature of the source.
