Kostas is a minor antagonist in the game Fire Emblem: Three Houses, in particular being a minor antagonist of the first chapter of White Clouds. Kostas is a thief hired by the Flame Emperor to kill a group of students at the Garreg Mach Monastery. After his failure, The Flame Emperor betrays him and Byleth kills Kostas.
In Japanese, he was voiced by Yoshikazu Nagano. In Englihsh he was voiced by the late Brad Venable (who also voiced Anubis) in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Brent Mukai in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.
Personality[]
Not much is known about his personality. It is clear that he is loud, arrogant and extremely proud of his skills. Even when faced by powerful opponents such as the House Leaders, or after losing to Byleth and being forced to fight him again, he still shows confidence in his skills and usually believes that he always has the means to come out on top of any skirmish.
Despite his thief status, he is still somewhat honorable and is seemingly kind to his gang. This is shown at numerous occasions in the first two chapters, such as when he calls out The Flame Emperor for betraying him and when he rebukes his gang for trying to run away when they see Byleth, claiming that a thief can't fear death due to their occupation.
Biography[]
Kostas plays a crucial role in the first chapter, being the main driving force for Byleth and Jeralt returning to the Garreg Mach Monastary. He was hired by the Flame Emperor to kill a group of students to hinder the church. Among those students were the house leaders, who he chased down to try and kill.
He and his gang run into Byleth and Jeralt, two wandering mercenaries. Byleth and Jeralt save the House Leaders and defeat Kostas. Kostas makes one final move against Edelgard, but Byleth initially takes the blow, saving her. After Sothis reverses time to save Byleth, Byleth stops Kostas by deflecting his blow. Kostas then runs away, barely escaping with his life.
Soon after the battle, Kostas meets with The Flame Emperor. The Flame Emperor is upset by his failure to kill the house leaders, and despite Kostas's argument that he still killed a lot of the students, the Flame Emperor abandons him in the red canyon, claiming that he is no longer useful to him.
Later in the year, Byleth brings his class to the red canyon to do some research on the events that happened there. His students are then forced to fight Kostas and his gang of bandits. Kostas refuses to run, even when confronted by Byleth, and he dies in this confrontation.

Trivia[]
- Kostas can be seen as a counterpart to another bandit fought later in the story, Pallardó. Both are fought at early points, with Kostas being the first boss of the game and Pallardó being the first boss who has been fought post-timeskip. Both are also bandits. However, while Kostas has some is a brute and has a minor sense of honour, Pallardó uses sneaky tactics to defeat his opponents and is a coward.
