Hee haw, hee hee haw, snort snort snort!
~ The One-Eyed Wizard's "evil laugh"

The One-Eyed Wizard is the main antagonist of the novel, Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Adventure. He is an elderly wizard who's jealous of older brother Santa Claus due to Santa representing Christmas, a holiday far more popular than Flag Day, represented by the One-Eyed Wizard.

Personality[]

The One-Eyed Wizard first presented himself as an affable and wise old man, who is willing to help others. However, this is a front he uses to manipulate others into helping him achieve his goals. The wizard was a spiteful, envious and bitter old man who was willing to lie to, brainwash, incriminate, attack and even murder others, whether they be kids, a mother in front of her own son, or even his own brother, to achieve his goals. When Roland impales the One-Eyed Wizard with his magic sword, Jeremy, the bitter old wizard is changed to a good man and becomes another friend Roland made on his journey.

Physical Appearance[]

The One-Eyed Wizard is an elderly, hunched-over man with a white beard and white hair. He is missing his left eye due to an injury he sustained while attempting to promote Flag Day. His teeth are out of shape, and he wears a black wizard's hat and robes, with a rope belt. His footwear are sandals.

Powers and Abilities[]

The One-Eyed Wizard is a powerful wizard who is very skilled at casting magic spells. He is able to operate a crystal ball, which he uses to spy on Roland, change the weather in his village, and take control of the mind of his neighbor, Mrs. Nettles, all from his hut in the Burnt Swamp. He is also shown to be able to reverse petrification induced by the sight of Medusa, zap away at leeches, generate fireballs, generating giant, floating, disembodied hands that act on his command, and generating a force field for himself. With Santa Claus' staff, the One-Eyed Wizard becomes significantly more threatening, making Righty large enough to grab and nearly kill Roland and his friends.

Biography[]

When he was young, his brother, Santa was spoiled and when both of them got to choose a national holiday to represent, Santa got to pick first, and he chose Christmas, which a lot of people love and celebrate. However, the One-Eyed Wizard got Flag Day, which barely any people cared about. While trying to promote his holiday, the One-Eyed Wizard accidently knocks his eye out with a flag, earning his nickname.

The One-Eyed Wizard hid in a hut in the Burnt Swamp and started to plot his revenge on Santa. He knew that he couldn't attack Santa at the North Pole because his elves would've defended him, so the One-Eyed Wizard decided to attack Santa while he was at his vacation home (which Santa went to when it is not the Christmas season). But only someone with a pure heart could get in the home, so the One-Eyed Wizard used his Crystal Ball and found a boy named Roland, who had a pure heart.

The One-Eyed Wizard used his magic to create a blizzard in Roland's village, and used a spell to brainwash Roland's neighbor Mrs. Nettles and make her tell him that his mother was kidnapped by the White Warlock (Santa). This made Roland go on a journey to rescue her from the Ice Fortress (which unbeknownst to him was Santa's vacation home).

When Roland's friends got turned to stone by Medusa, Roland went out to seek help from the One-Eyed Wizard and found him in his swamp hut. The One-Eyed Wizard told Roland that the White Warlock was planning to marry Roland's mother and make her his queen on the next crescent moon, which was in a few days. They then travelled to Medusa's cave and the One-Eyed Wizard turned everyone back to normal.

They continued on the journey until eventually reaching the Ice Fortress. The One-Eyed Wizard and Roland scouted ahead to find the entrance. Due to Roland's pure heart, he was able to open the secret door leading inside. Once they entered the throne room, Roland couldn't see his mother anywhere. The One-Eyed Wizard revealed everything to Roland. Then, Santa got his staff and attacked the One-Eyed Wizard, who gained the upper hand in their duel. The One-Eyed Wizard was about to get his revenge but Shae'Vana (one of Roland's friends and Santa's elves), fired an arrow, knocked his wand out of his hand and fired more arrows, pinning his robe to the wall.

However, the One-Eyed Wizard slipped through his robe and got hold of Santa's staff, which he used to shoot magical fireballs at Santa, Roland and Shae'Vana. But the fireballs hit the ice wall, and Roland's friends entered the throne room and attacked the One-Eyed Wizard. But Righty (a giant hand that was made by the One-Eyed Wizard and was under his control) burst through the roof and grabbed Roland, his friends and Santa and tried to suffocate them. However, Roland's mother arrived, taking the One-Eyed Wizard off-guard and causing Righty to drop everyone.

The One-Eyed Wizard became furious and prepared to fire a spell at Roland's mother out of spite. Before he could do so, however, Roland threw his magical sword at the One-Eyed Wizard, impaling him. The sword didn't kill the One-Eyed Wizard, but rather, due to the magical effects of the sword, caused him to reform. Santa then gave everyone presents, giving the One-Eyed Wizard a flag. Roland's mother told the One-Eyed Wizard that he could live in her house and stay in the unused bedroom of Roland's late grandfather, Bampy the Brave. Santa gave everyone a ride home, and the One-Eyed Wizard then on lived with Roland and his family.
