Celestial Dragons? Marines? You should know we do not fear even that, you are free to gather all of your forces together to invade here but you will never topple my country. I have Kaido behind my back!!
~ Orochi to CP0.
Listen Oden, to me all of these people in this country are sinners who persecuted the Kurozumi family!! They can all die for all I care!! I claimed the seat of Shogun for the sake of destroying this country!! For the sake of revenge!!! Long ago, my grandfather committed a crime and was sentenced to seppuku!! If our family were to simply fall from grace, then that would have been fine!! However, all the remaining relatives were hunted down by self-proclaimed allies of justices out of nowhere!! They were beaten or thrown into rivers or outright killed!! Those fools scared me so much I could not even sleep!! Even when the person responsible for the committing the sin was already dead!!! If someone bore the Kurozumi name, even a brat would become a sinner!!!
~ Orochi explaining his motive for his crimes against the Wano Country.

Kurozumi Orochi was a major antagonist in One Piece, serving as the secondary antagonist of the first and second thirds of the Wano Country Arc, and a supporting one in the final third. He was a member of the Kurozumi Family who desired revenge against the Wano Country for the treatment of his clan due to the crimes of his grandfather.

Twenty-five years before the events of the Wano Country Arc, he once allied himself with Kaido and the Beasts Pirates to kill Kozuki Oden and install himself as the new Shogun of Wano. Since his rule, Wano Country has been polluted and most of the citizens in the country are heavily oppressed and brainwashed by his rule.

During the announcement of the "New Onigashima Project" in the Fire Festival, Orochi and Kaido's alliance ended when Kaido betrayed Orochi and attacked him. Orochi managed to survive Kaido's treachery, but he would finally meet his end at the hands of the Nine Red Scabbards. The Kozuki Family would then rightfully take back their throne and restore the country's lost honor from Orochi's rule, forevermore ruining Orochi's vengeance on Wano for good.

He is voiced by Hiroshi Iwasaki in Japanese and Keith Silverstein in English.

Personality[]

Orochi is a cruel individual based on what the Kozuki retainers and other individuals have said about him due to how he rules Wano Country and his insensitive and sadistic behavior. In the past he was responsible for Kozuki Oden's death and became the shogun of Wano hinting at his intentions to gain power through cruel ways. As the ruler of the Wano Country, Kurozumi has access to the food and water that was not poisoned through the pollution but does not care about the majority of the country that does not have the eatable food and drinkable water. He also does not care about the citizens who are oppressed by the authority of the Beast Pirates. Orochi is also paranoid and fearful of Kozuki Toki's prophecy that he would be overthrown and killed one night 20 years after Oden's death by nine samurais. Orochi banned all training methods in Wano which his subordinates merely viewed him a coward. This prophecy that Toki predicted happened inevitably when Orochi was betrayed by Kaido after objecting Kaido's New Onigashima Project and later seemingly killed by the Red Scabbards.

Orochi also have an interest in the Wano Country's top idol Kumorasaki, and wants to make her his woman but only show his fury after she rejected him. In business dealings with CP-0, Orochi is willing to get what he wants and feels that he has a lot of power. He is shown to be arrogant with dealing with CP-0 as he wanted Dr. Vegapunk. Because of his allegiance to Kaido, Orochi is confident and does not have any fear of the Celestial Dragons and the Marines. At the banquet, Orochi shows that he enjoys the festivity and shown to be hedonistic.

Orochi is sensitive to people who speaks ill of him or laughs at him. He orders his men and the Beast Pirates to harm or kill anyone who speaks ill of him. Orochi will become enraged if anyone laughs at him and would attempt to kill the person himself if he finds them. In addition, he will continue to show contempt and anger for the person who laughs at him. Orochi gets more furious when anyone insulted him such as Shimotsuki Yasuie called the shogun to stupid and later a pest for his greed and cowardice.

Orochi also can be easily manipulated because of his misdirection after Kyoshiro (who revealed to be Denjiro in disguise) and Kin'emon had easily tricked the Shogun and his most trusted spy, Kanjuro. Orochi is also shown to be only interested in maintaining his own power such as protesting against Kaido's idea of moving Onigashima to the Flower Capital only to be betrayed when Kaido beheaded Orochi with King's sword.

After being betrayed by Kaido, Orochi became vengeful as he attempted to go kill Kaido and anyone who opposed him. However, in his encounter with the Red Scabbards, Orochi's own arrogance has been his downfall when he was easily defeated and reduced down to one head. He continued to remain careless as when encountering Komurasaki, who created a trap for Orochi, that causes him to be defenseless and weak. In his final moment after losing his last head to Denjiro and still on, Orochi remains unrepentant as he tried his last desperate attempt to tell Hiyori that Kurozumi will haunt them forever, but Hiyori declared that "The Kurozumi was born to Burn" leading for Orochi to die in disgrace and frustration.

Relationships[]

Family[]

  • Kurozumi Higurashi: When he learned his grandfather was killed by the Kozuki Family, Orochi allied with Higurashi to ensure he would become the Shogun of Wano. They took part in mocking Oden when he humiliated himself in the streets. Despite her long support, when Kaido stated he murdered her, Orochi did not show any sympathy or care for her.
  • Kurozumi Kanjuro: Kanjuro is Orochi's most trusted spy. They first met after people assassinated Kanjuro's parents, Orochi revealed their relation and explained he took care of his parents' murderers and offered Kanjuro the chance to join him to take revenge on Wano. He gave Kanjuro his devil fruit and entrusted Kanjuro to the Kozuki family as a spy to ensure of that the prophecy of Orochi's death does not happen. Orochi expressed fascination in Kanjuro's acting skills and how far he is willing to go to pretend to be a loyal member of the Nine Red Scabbards. In secret, Orochi views Kanjuro as creepy for his dedication but finds him a capable spy and entrusts him to carry out his mission. When Kanjuro reported his return after time traveling, Orochi believed it and tried to stop the Nine Red Scabbards from leaving Wano. After the supposed success of the plan to stop the Fire Festival, Orochi had Kanjuro drop his role and deliver Momonosuke, something he did without hesitation. Orochi was happy to see Kanjuro after twenty years, inviting the latter to celebrate with him, as the latter bowed to him in respect but Orochi was dismayed to hear from him that their plan to stop the rebels failed. Despite his loyalty, Orochi had no qualms in sacrificing Kanjuro to destroy the castle but Kanjuro was willing to put in one final act for Orochi.
  • His other clan members: He once stated that he and his clan suffered from persecution in the past and wished to avenge the unfair treatment they suffered. However, he is ultimately proven to be a hypocrite, as he did nothing to help his surviving family members. It happened with Tama’s parents who were suffering the same as with the rest of the Wano’s citizens, and their deaths caused Tama to be an orphan. Tama, in turn, holds no loyalty to her clan’s desire for revenge and instead assist the Kozuki’s clan and Straw Hats to defeat them.

Allies[]

  • His subordinates: His subordinate are supposedly loyal to Orochi. Orochi entrusted his subordinates to seek out Momonosuke and his Oden's retainers. When banning training methods, most of his subordinates viewed him as a coward. However, they later saw he was correct to be paranoid after seeing Momonosuke and the Red Scabbards again. After his beheading by Kaido, they were surprised to have witnessed what happened to their leader. When Kaido gave them the choice of joining him or die by going against him, Fukurokujo and Hotei joined without hesitation. When Fukurokujo and Hotei's men saw their decision, they were relieved. Fukurokujo and Hotei revealed that they were not truly loyal to Orochi from the beginning. However, Fukurokujo betrayed Kaido and his crew to remain into Orochi's side by burning down Onigashima for Kaido's betrayal. When Fukurokujo was defeated, Orochi berates his advisor for failing him.

Enemies[]

  • Kozuki Family: In the beginning, Orochi was a loyal servant of the Kozuki Family until learned the truth. He now holds hatred toward the Kozuki Family and wanted to exact his revenge on them for foiling his grandfather's plot to be Shogun, leading to the persecution of his family. To that end, he and his family proceeded to launch a coup and secretly imprisoned Kozuki Sukiyaki, to sieze power. When he heard from Toki is told of his death prophecy, Orochi is deeply paranoid of the prophecy that Toki told of him and over the years have used his propaganda to tell the citizens of Wano that the Kozuki Family is an enemy of the country. After capturing and locked up Kawamatsu 13 years ago, Orochi fed the fishman poison fishes everyday of his attempted to force Kawamatsu to submit himself to join him but only to refused. He was later shocked to hear that his fears were true after Kanjuro sent him a letter to reveal that Toki's powers were real and they survived the fire. He was also unaware of Sukiyaki's eventual escape and him helping in the revolution. Ultimately, Orochi was paranoid about their impending rebellion and tried to destroy the docks and the bridge to ensure they will not get to Onigashima. Unbeknownst to him, he failed and all the rebels already made it out of the bridge due to the misdirection by Kin'emon as well as Denjiro's manipulation. But little did they know, Kaido dismissed Orochi and tell them that he is indeed delusional. After Kaido's betrayal towards him, Orochi meets the Red Scabbards and attempted to kill them only to be easily defeated by them.
  • Kozuki Oden: Orochi had no respect for Oden. In the past, Orochi would use Oden by asking for money from him. Oden would give the money to Orochi without second thought because he thought he was helping Orochi in need. When Oden returned from his journey with the Whitebeard Pirates and Roger Pirates, Oden was willing to kill Orochi for attacking his family and oppressing the Wano citizens but was halted by Orochi's family aiding him. Instead, Oden agreed to a deal where he would dance in the street and humiliate himself to spare the citizens from Orochi's tyranny. Orochi took great pleasure in mocking the once great lord, as the people held Oden in contempt. However, Oden rebelled against Orochi when Hyogoro's family was attacked and Orochi wanted him executed for his rebellion. Although Oden survived being boiled for an hour in a boiling pot, Orochi did not honor the deal of the execution and agreed with Kaido to execute Oden with a firearm. Orochi looked down on Oden and would often mock him when he was performing in the streets. Years later, Orochi still has no respect for Oden and no remorse in setting up his murder although the latter helped him and gave him money.
  • Straw Hat and Heart Pirates: Orochi deems the Straw Hats and Heart alliance as a threat. He initially did not recognize them in their disguise such as flirting with for O-Robi (Nico Robin). He expressed feared when Zoro attempted to kill him. He order his entire army to kill them and place wanted posters. He tried to destroy Thousand Sunny and the bridge to ensure they will not get to Onigashima. Unbeknownst to him, he failed as Thousand Sunny is ineffective (due to being created by Adam Tree) and all people already made it out of the bridge due to the misdirection by Kin'emon as well as Denjiro's manipulation. The alliance is also interested in taking down Orochi along with Kaido.
  • Komurasaki/Kozuki Hiyori: Orochi is interested in Komurasaki as he wanted to take her as his wife, but Komurasaki refused to become his wife slapped him after he attempted to kill Toko (a little girl) who accidentally laughed at him. Orochi was visibly upset when Kyoshiro cut her down for slapping him since she was attracted to her. However, Orochi willingly attacked her when she stood in his way to kill Toko and was frustrated when she went against him. Unbeknownst to him, Komurasaki is alive and is also Kozuki Hiyori in disguise when he send an assassin (who is Killer) to chase and kill her and Toko. Hiyori strongly dislikes Orochi for his involvement in her father's, Kozuki Oden's, death and have been conspiring with Denjiro to help take him down. In Onigashima, Hiyori disguised as Komurasaki once more and played music to easily fool Orochi. While he is so carelessly of listening her music, Hiyori secretly stabbed him with a seastone nail to ensure that he will not transform or regenerate when he gotten crushed by rubbles. Hiyori revealed her true identity towards the pin downed Orochi. When he was freed from the seastone nail, Orochi once again transform and attempted to kill Hiyori only to be decapitated again by Denjiro. Before he finally died, he tried to tell Hiyori that the Kurozumi will haunt Wano for all time. Hiyori in response says that his revenge is bound to fail by stating that “The Kurozumi is born to burn.” making his plan to be an utter failure.
  • Kozuki Momonosuke: Twenty years ago, Orochi was willing to kill Momonosuke along with the rest of his family. For the past twenty years, Orochi had been paranoid over the status of Momonosuke and the Nine Red Scabbards, since their bodies were not found in Oden's castle. When Kanjuro brought the young lord to him, Orochi saw Momonosuke and that he was still a kid from twenty years ago, he saw an opportunity to humiliate and execute him. Momonosuke strongly hates Orochi for the role he played in his parents' death and for oppressing the citizens of Wano's country. Momonosuke vows to stop Orochi and Kaido and to save the country from them. In the New Onigashima Project, Momonosuke witnessed Orochi seemingly getting killed by Kaido. After Orochi was defeated for good, Momonosuke proceeded to take over as Shogun of Wano and promised to undo all the destruction wrought by Orochi.
  • Kyoshiro/Denjiro: In the past, Denjiro opposed Orochi and Kaido for oppressing the citizens of Wano. Denjiro have battled against Orochi and Kaido's forces and wanted to stop both of them. However, when Oden died and the Nine Red Scabbard's disbanded after the latter's death, Denjiro was overcome with so much rage that his physical appearance changed. As Kyoshiro, Denjiro used his new alias and identity to become Orochi's bodyguard and a Yakuza boss of the country. Denjiro would pretend to be a loyal agent of Orochi and would go out of his way to enforce the rules of the country and to protect Orochi, despite the contempt he has for him. For example, Kyoshiro cut down Komurasaki for slapping Orochi under the simple reason that she assaulted the shogun even though Orochi did not approve of his extreme actions. He also saved him from Zoro after Yasuie's execution, something Orochi thanked him for. Despite pretending to be a loyal subordinate of Orochi, Denjiro had been secretly conspiring against Orochi by protecting Oden's daughter, Hiyori, and acting as the Witching Hour Boy at night by stealing from the rich to give to the poor. The day of the Onigashima Raid, Denjiro dropped his act, attacked Kaido's fleet and reunited with the Nine Red Scabbards. Orochi sees Kyoshiro as a worthy guardian but is visibly frustrated at him for cutting down Komurasaki. Orochi is unaware that Kyoshiro is Denjiro. When Orochi sees that Kyoshiro turned on him and that he was a member of the Scabbards, Orochi expressed surprised that he was spy the entire time. Orochi brushed off the surprise by stating that he is even with the Scabbards since they had a spy among them named Kanjuro. Orochi did not show fear towards Kyoshiro and attempts to kill him with his allies, but the latter and his team sliced his Yamata no Orochi heads off leaving him to deal with Kaido. When Orochi attempts to kill Hiyori, Denjiro killed Orochi by slicing his final head off and protected Hiyori.
  • Shimotsuki Yasuie: Orochi was once a loyal subordinate to Yasuie and worked for him. When Orochi became the shogun of Wano, Yasuie was surprised that he was endorsed to be the shogun by Kozuki Sukiyaki (under the disguise of Kurozumi Higurashi) and was further surprised he was a Kurozumi. Yasuie asked why he hid it, to which Orochi apologized. Over the years, Yasuie was against Orochi and Kaido's oppression of the Wano citizens. Years later after eating a failed SMILE fruit and on the day of his execution, Yasuie mocked Orochi for his cowardly actions and calling him a pest whereas Orochi gleefully executed the latter. Orochi has no respect for his former master. He later tried to dishonor Yasuie by killing his daughter Toko.
  • Shimotsuki Toko: Orochi was annoyed and angered when Toko accidentally laughed him. Despite being a child and knowing that she may have consumed a failed SMILE fruit, Orochi wanted to personally kill her. He thought she insulted him and wanted her executed as a result. Despite Komurasaki telling him to stop, he persisted in his attempt to kill Toko. His dislike of her increased when he learned she was Yasuie's daughter.
  • Kid Pirates: Orochi tortured and force fed a failed SMILE to Killer, causing Orochi to earn Eustass Kid's wrath as he will make the shogun pay for what he has done to Killer.
  • Kaido: Orochi was an ally of Kaido. Orochi allows Kaido to use the Beast Pirates to maintain his oppressive rule in Wano. Under their allegiance, the two seem to get along well and are not hostile to one another. Orochi admits that is reliant on Kaido when it comes to taking over Wano. Kaido also views Orochi's acts as sinister such as the time when Orochi murdered Yasuie and reveled when the Wano citizens could not cry over the loss but could only laugh. Up until Kaido's announcement of the "New Onigashima Project", Kaido and Orochi seemed to have gotten along as they were able to hold conversations without any arguments. When Kaido states that he will be moving Onigashima to the Flower Capital and will be taking over that territory, Orochi was against that idea stating that it is his territory. However, Kaido did not hesitate to decapitate Orochi with King's sword and admitted that Orochi was a pawn to him and that he is no longer necessary to him, thus ending their alliance. When Kaido saw the Nine Red Scabbards before him, he remarked that Orochi was actually correct to be paranoid. Since his betrayal and decapitation from Kaido, Orochi seeks vengeance against him.
  • Kawamatsu: In the past, Kawamatsu opposed Orochi for the latter's tyranny of Wano. Orochi wanted to kill him and the Nine Red Scabbards after Oden died during the Legendary Hour. At one point 13 years ago, Kawamatsu was captured, sent to Udon Prison, placed in solitary confinement, and fed poisoned fish everyday before his release. Like the rest of the Scabbards, Orochi is deeply fearful of Kawamatsu appearing and taking him down with his teammates. During his time in Udon Prison, Kawamatsu's will was not broken and he looked forward to his release and reunion with his comrades to take him down. When Orochi encounters him during the Raid, Orochi mocked him about having Kanjuro as a spy and attempted to kill him and his team only for Kawamatsu and his team to cut down his Yamata no Orochi heads and leaving him to deal with Kaido.

Civilians of Wano[]

  • Civilians of Wano: Ever since Orochi learned about his family persecuted because of the actions of his grandfather and the tough upbringing he had in Wano from Kurozumi Higurashi, Orochi decided to become the shogun of the country with the intention of inflicting harm on the citizens. When Orochi became the shogun, he would devise means of making the civilians lives miserable from having his own subordinates, Kaido, and the Beasts Pirates oppress the country. Orochi would purposely leave all the other territories in Wano impoverished where the civilians would have little to no food or water as he and Kaido were both responsible for polluting the food and water supply and keeping all the drinkable water and healthy food to themselves. Annoyed at how the civilians were miserable, Orochi intentionally gave the people failed SMILES in order to get rid of the negative atmosphere. Orochi also intends to make the civilians of the country suffer to the point where the country would eventually be destroyed. Orochi enjoyed putting the civilians of Wano through pain and misery as he feels this is his way to get revenge on civilians for making his life miserable and for going after his family. When Orochi is defeated, the citizens of Wano celebrate that Orochi is finally gone.
  • Flower Capital Residents: Unlike the rest of the civilians in the other territories of Wano, Orochi seemingly gets along with the wealthier class of people in the Flower Capital. Many of these people are corrupt and in favor of Orochi's tyrannical rule. He would have social gatherings with them where they would waste food and have parties at the expense of the rest of the country who did not have enough food or water. Despite their interests being around Orochi, many of these civilians secretly mock Orochi for his beliefs in Kozuki Toki's prophecy and the return of the Nine Red Scabbards until seeing them for themselves. Orochi also was interested in spreading propaganda to the children and others in the Flower Capital about how he and Kaido were heroes for locking down the country to the outside world and that Oden and his supporters were villains. When Kaido planned to take over the Flower Capital, Orochi was against his idea insisting that the Flower Capital was his land to rule. During the Fire Festival, one of the residents throw a flying lantern written "Please make Orochi disappear" meaning the Flower Capital wants Orochi dead which presumably happened as Denjiro cuts off his head in his final failed attempt to kill Hiyori.

Others[]

  • World Government: Orochi is shown to not to fear authority figures of the World Government like CP0. When meeting with CP0, Orochi also admits that he does not fear the Celestial Dragons because he have Kaido and the Beasts Pirates as his allies. In addition, Orochi was shown to not fear CP0, the Celestial Dragons, or the Marines, and felt during his meeting that he could get them to give him Vegapunk. When one CP0 member stated something he did not like, Orochi shot at another CP0 member and gloated to them about the power he has as the shogun of Wano.

Abilities and Powers[]

As a former shogun of Wano, Orochi has full control the entire Wano Country. As a former ally of Kaido, Orochi has access to Kaido's crew until he lost this access when Kaido dismissed him.

Despite of him being weak and lack of swordsmanship, Orochi possessed durability and endurance after he was slapped by Komurasaki (Kozuki Hiyori in disguise) and later zapped by Zeus (while as Nami's slave).

Tactical Expertise[]

With the assistance of Kanjuro, Orochi shown to be tactical when he attempted to destroy the areas before his enemies would make a move. However, this tactics failed when the areas are all misguided and misdirected by both Kin'emon and Denjiro.

Marksmanship[]

Orochi seems to have good accuracy of firearms as he shot at one of the CP-0 agent (but has no effect due to assumably Tekkai).

"Orochi Nitoryu"[]

In the Flower Capital school, Orochi is said of Orochi is a powerful samurai who took down Oden when his tremendous swordsmanship which turned out to be a lie. In truth, Orochi never has experience of swordsmanship as he is weak and he never defeat Oden when it is revealed Kaido defeated Oden (due to Higurashi's interference). When he attempted to kill Toko, his swordsmanship reveals that he does not have mastery over wielding and using his weapon.

Devil Fruit[]

Orochi ate a mythical Zoan Devil fruit, Hebi Hebi no Mi: Model Yamata no Orochi. He can transform into an eight headed snake. He has the ability to survive the decapitation up to eight times even when he was in his human form. He lost his one of his head when Kaido betrayed him. He then lost six of his seven heads when confronting the Nine Red Scabbards. Finally he lost his final head to Denjiro in a failed attempt to kill Hiyori making it his death permanent.

After his death by Denjiro, Orochi's devil fruit returned to circulation.

Biography[]

Past[]

As a child, Orochi lived in poverty after his family lost their power due to his grandfather's crimes. He and his family were also persecuted and hunted down by the citizens, causing Orochi to live in fear. One day a mysterious elderly women approached Orochi. She told him about his family, the Kurozumi Family, history's in Wano. She told him that Orochi's grandfather attempted to usurp the position of Wano. However, when he was caught, he was forced to commit suicide for his punishment. Since that inicident, the Kurozumi name, had taboo associated with it for the attempt to poison the shogun. When Orochi heard the story, he was shocked and began to work with the elderly woman to become the shogun of the country.

Orochi worked as a servant for one of Wano's daimyos, Shimotsuki Yasuie. One day during his service, Orochi met Oden, Kinemon, and Denjiro. When Yasuie's home was a mess, Orochi says that Oden was responsible for the mess and for stealing the money. At some point, Orochi quits serving under Yasuie and Oden gives money to support him. Orochi serves under the Kozuki Family specifically under Kozuki Sukiyaki. The elderly woman disguised herself as Oden to help vouch for him to get serve under Sukiyaki. During this time, he hoarded gold and other valuable items so that he can gain wealth and power. While serving under Sukiyaki, Orochi would poison the shogun over time causing his health to deteriorate. Orochi would work alongside the elderly woman and mock the people he considered his enemy. At some point Sukiyaki died from his poor health. The elderly woman disguised as Sukiyaki nominated Orochi as Sukiyaki's successor as the shogun of Wano. Orochi reveals to Yasuie and the others that he was a Kurozumi. Yasuie and the others were surprised of his true identity and wanted to know why he hid it from them. Orochi gave a dry apology before accepting the position.

When Kozuki Oden rose to power in Wano, Orochi was aware of this and wanted to know about what Oden knows about Raftel. Around the same time Orochi came into contact with Kaido and became allies. Oden refused to tell them anything about Raftel. With Kaido's help, Orochi managed to execute Oden, destroy his castle, and take the position as the new shogun of the Wano Country from Kozuki Sukiyaki. Before her death, Kozuki Toki prophesied that Orochi would meet his end 20 years later one night when nine samurais would appear. Since her prophecy, Orochi has been paranoid about that possibility.

Since his usurpation, he maintained a solid rule on Wano Country. Under his allegiance with Kaido, he allows the Beasts Pirates to set up factories in Wano to create weapons. Orochi and Kaido both obtained the smile devil fruit from Doflamingo and Caesar. Some of the people in the Flower Capital ate the smile fruits. Not liking the oppressed citizen's apathy and rage, Orochi devised a plan to put the smile fruits in with the other leftover food from the Flower Capital and send it to leftover towns like Ebisu Town. As a result, the people who ate the smile fruit can no longer express anger, sorrow, or any negative emotions and can only smile and laugh.

Orochi also maintains an oppressive rule over Wano by allowing the factories to pollute the country and the food and water supply leaving most of the country, except for the Flower Capital (his territory) and Kaido's territory, with tainted food and water supply. He also managed to produce propaganda media to make himself and the Beasts Pirates look like heroes after his usurpation of the country. His tactic of propaganda is in the news and taught in the classroom to show Orochi and Kaido as good people. Orochi also set up laws to prohibit any uprising by having the swords and martial arts training forbidden to people in the country. Over the years, many people who have stood against and opposed Orochi have been imprisoned in Udon Prison. When Kin'emon, Kanjuro, Momonosuke, Kiku, and Raizo appeared in Wano, Orochi and Kaido's forces tried to capture them but they managed to escape.

Wano Country Arc[]

Orochi appears behind shoji doors when an individual tells him that Kumorasaki will be coming to his banquet. Orochi laughs and declares that he will make Kumorasaki be with him. Orochi later had a meeting with CP-0. Orochi remarks that because Doflamingo (the World Government's intermediary) is no longer involved in the trading deals, the World Government now have to come directly to him and Kaido. Orochi demands that the World Government gives him Dr. Vegapunk since he already has warships. One member of CP-0 rejects his demand and Orochi shoots another member knocking their hat off. Orochi says with Kaido by his side he is not afraid of the Celestial Dragons or the Marines.

Orochi appears at the Banquet and meets Kumorasaki. He is happy at the banquet and tells everyone that the Fire Festival is next week. He also tells everyone to enjoy themselves at his banquet. Orochi parties with the people at his banquet until he sees Robin emerges. He welcomes her and then Komurasaki gets Orochi's attention. Orochi then tells the people at the banquet that it has been twenty years since Kozuki Oden's death. He tells everyone about Kozuki Toki's prophecy about how nine powerful fighters will emerge twenty years after Oden's death to take vengeance against him and take down Kaido. Unbeknownst to Orochi, most of his underlings do not believe in the prophecy. A girl, Toko, laughed uncontrollably and Orochi became enraged and attempted to kill her with his sword. People tries to tell Orochi she was a child and he ignored them. Komurasaki slaps Orochi and the guests at the banquet demand that she apologizes. Komurasaki refuses and stands in front of Orochi. Enraged at her actions, Orochi transforms into his eight-headed snake form.

He tells Komurasaki that he will forgive her if she begged for her life and gives an apology but she refused. Orochi attacks his own men out of frustration by biting them with his snake heads. He then attacks her by having her caught in one of his mouths. She is freed by him and shortly after she is bisected by Kyoshiro. Orochi is shocked at Komurasaki's death and yells at Kyoshiro. Kyoshiro reminds Orochi that anyone that attacks the shogun gets killed. Orochi looks at Komurasaki on the floor with an upset expression and decides to lash out at Toko for laughing at him and blaming her for Komurasaki's death. As he chases Robin who is carrying Toko, Nami attacks Orochi with Big Mom's homie, Zeus, with a lightning attack.

After the events of the banquet, Orochi sends an assassin, Kamazo, after Toko for laughing in his banquet. In addition, Orochi became angry when he learned about Kin'emon's symbol and secret message. As a result of this, Orochi's men and the Beasts Pirates begin to arrest people who have the symbols on them. Orochi continues to cry and mourn over the death of Komurasaki and gets angry when Fukurokujo tries to report the latest news to him. At first Orochi does not care about the capture of the Witching Hour Boy, but soon becomes shocked when he learn the identity of the individual as, Yasuie, a man who was once a daimyo and ally to Kozuki Oden. After learning this information, Orochi looks forward to seeing Yasuie's execution on the same day as Komurasaki's funeral. Orochi tells his men to prepare his horse.

As Orochi approaches the execution platform, Yasuie begins his speech and starts to insult Orochi. Orochi gets angry at Yasuie's insults as he calls Orochi a coward. When Orochi reaches the execution platform with his men, they execute Yasuie. Orochi continues to mock Yasuie after executing him. He notices Toko near Yasuie's dead body and begins to blame her for Komurasaki's death. Orochi realizes that Toko is Yasuie's daughter and attempts to kill her by shooting her until Zoro and Sanji intercepts his attack. Orochi gets enraged when Sanji and Zoro saves Toko. Zoro attempts to attack Orochi with his 720 pound phoenix move and he is left shocked at the attack but Kyoshiro blocks it. When things become hectic near the execution site, Orochi retreats and orders his men to kill everyone who stands against him. He cheers on his men to execute anyone who he perceives to be his enemy as his men escorts him out of the chaotic situation in the city.

After the situation in the city and getting to the Flower capital, Orochi is angry to hear that the Straw Hats and their accomplices have escaped. Fukurokujo tells him that they captured Trafalgar Law and that with him captured, the pirates will fight among themselves. Fukurokujo tells Orochi that they will use any torture method available to work in their favor. Orochi was happy to hear what was happening.

Orochi receives information that revealed the area where the rebel forces would be meeting at and addition information about Kozuki Hiyori being alive. Orochi is happy to know about the information on the rebels. He instructs his men to sabotage the areas where the rebel forces would be meeting. As a result, the alliance members are not able to meet and coordinate to initiate their plan against Orochi and Kaido. The next day, Orochi is seen with his men preparing to go to Onigashima for the Fire Festival. The evening of the Fire Festival, Orochi is seen flirting with someone during the celebration.

He later meets with Kaido during the festival celebrates the party while speaking about the downfall of the Kozuki family and his spy's, Kurozumi Kanjuro's, work. Kanjuro appears moments later with a battered Momonosuke in his hand. Orochi was pleased to see him but was shocked and outraged that the plan to stop the Nine Red Scabbards and their allies failed. Orochi expressed deep fear over the Nine Red Scabbards as he fears for his own safety and would want all the Scabbards and their allies to be dead. Orochi snatches Momonosuke from Black Maria and declares that he will set up an execution for the boy. Orochi holds an announcement to the Beasts Pirates about who Momonosuke is. He has Momonosuke tied to a cross as he has his speech with the Beast Pirates and his subordinates. However, Kaido appears alongside King and Jack and interrupts him. Kaido announces to his subordinates that he has a new and important plan called the "New Onigashima Project". As Kaido was announcing the "New Onigashima Project" to everyone by means of a den den mushi broadcast, Kaido began to tell Orochi's supporters to come to his side. Kaido then insists that Onigashima will be moved to the Flower Capital and that the citizens there will be used as workers to empower the Beasts Pirates. Orochi protests against Kaido's idea stating that Flower Capital is his place. Kaido responds by decapitating Orochi by slashing his head off of his body with King's sword to the shock and horror of Orochi's men and members of the Beasts Pirates.

After getting beheaded, Orochi recovers from the attack. He vows to get revenge on Kaido for betraying and decapitating him. He states that he will kill everyone around him as his way to get revenge. He is surprised as he encounters the Red Scabbards and mocks them about using Kanjuro to spy on them. He expresses surprise at Kyoshiro for betraying him to the scabbards but thinks that the situation is even since they were both betrayed. Orochi transforms into his Yamata no Orochi form to try and kill the scabbards. However, they each slice off Orochi's heads and leaves him stating that he is not worth wasting their time.

Orochi recovered again. He is shocked when heard Jack is defeated which is not his problem anymore since Kaido betrayed him. After Kinemon injuried Kanjuro, Orochi communicate with Kanjuro, through a Den Den Mushi, he order the latter to create his final drawing, Kazenbo, to perform a murder-suicide to kill everyone on the island. While Orochi hides in the treasure room wait for Fukurokuju to help his escape off the island.

Orochi later saw Komurasaki (Hiyori in disguised) who played him music. However, he was easily tricked and gotten injured when he gotten crushed by rubbles and couldn't transformed due to Komurasaki secretly planted with a seastone nail while he was listening blindly by her music. He later learned that Komurasaki is Hiyori. While stuck on the rubber due to the seastone nail, Orochi tries to manipulate Hiyori by telling her that he admires Oden and begging her to remove the seastone nail. However, this only made Hiyori mad because she knows of Orochi's treacherous nature. When Kazenbo arrived and failed to destroy Onigashima, Orochi ordered Kanjuro to kill Hiyori. However, Kanjuro instead attacked Orochi by burning him. When the seastone nail was removed, Orochi attempted to kill Hiyori but only to failed as well for Denjiro came to Hiyori's rescue and cut off Orochi's head.

Despite losing all of his head and being on fire, he is still alive in a final attempt to tell Hiyori that the Kurozumi Family will haunt Wano for many years to come. Hiyori was unfazed by that threat by stating that “The Kurozumi was born to burn!” before Orochi finally succumbed to the flames.

After his death, his shogun position has been rightfully taken by a grown-up Momonosuke, and all of his plan to make Wano country suffer and the corruption has been undone when Momonosuke announced to demolition of the toxic factories and the well for clean water to restore Wano County to its former glory, making his desire for revenge all in vain.
