Murdock is a major antagonist of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade a minor character in its prequel Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. He is the leader of the three Dragon Generals, Roy's most powerful foe, and Zephiel's right-hand man and bodyguard since childhood.
He is voiced by Koyatsu Hisanori in Japanese and Ed Cunningham in English.

Backstory[]
Murdock was at first a commoner, but he joined Bern's military and quickly became one of the most important and esteemed knights of his country. This led him to become a Wyvern General (an elite officer of Bern) and the retainer and bodyguard of Prince Zephiel, whom he now serves faithfully.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade[]
Murdock is first seen during the chapter "Four-Fanged Offense" where he talks to a soldier who complains about the rule of King Desmond (Zephiel's father). However Murdock realizes that a member of Eliwood and Hector's army is there, and thus asks him to remain silent in order to prevent the intruder from hearing what they are talking about.
He reappears in the chapter "Unfulfilled Heart" where he and Zephiel give a baby fox to the latter's sister Guinivere, only for Zephiel and Guinivere's father Desmond to show up, kill the fox and yell at Zephiel's face. Murdock tries to protect his liege, but Desmond silences him and tells him that his loyalty should be to him rather than his son. He then forces both Zephiel and Murdock to leave
Later on, King Desmond asks Sonia Reed to send an assassin of the Black Fangs to kill his son while sending Murdock to his castle so he won't get in Sonia's way. During "Battle Before Dawn", Sonia orders her adopted daughter Nino and her elite minion Jaffar to deal with Zephiel at night when Murdock is at Bern Palace (and asks Jaffar to kill Nino too). However, Jaffar turns on Sonia out of love for Nino and they stop Zephiel's assassination with the help of Eliwood, Lyn and Hector. Murdock learns that his liege nearly died and informs Zephiel's mother Hellene of what happened. She then gives Eliwood's team the map of the Shrine of Seals so they could find the Fire Emblem and a seal as reward for saving her son.
Murdock appears one last time to give a Warp Staff to Eliwood's army as a reward for saving Zephiel's life in the chapter "Cog of Destiny".
During the Time Skip, Desmond attempts to kill Zephiel by poisoning him, but the latter survives and is nursed back to health by Murdock. Together, they fake the prince's death and stage fake funerals. During said funerals, Zephiel kills Desmond when he tries to look inside his coffin. He takes the throne afterward and decides to start a war and take over Elibe in order to give it back to dragons, due to believing humans to be evil at heart after his father's betrayal.
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade[]
Murdock is the general of Bern in charge of the invasion of Ilia, but he does not show up in person for the first half of the game. He first appears during Chapter 16, where Roy is about to attack Aquleia (the capital of the Kingdom of Etruria, a country which has been taken over by Bern). He shows up to confront his subordinate Narcian over his repeated failures against Roy's army and reveals to him that he is going to be demoted for losing to Roy's forces on several occasions (which include letting the treacherous Princess Guinivere escape, failing to conquer the Nabata Desert's hidden village Arcadia and letting his lieutenant Flaer lose in the Western Isles). In spite of this, he agrees to let Narcian one more chance to regain his title and sends him to defend Aquleia's Castle against Roy's forces. He then asks Narcian's rival and replacement, his former lieutenant Galle, to keep an eye on Narcian and give a report on the battle of Aquleia.
Murdock reappears in the next chapter (if Roy took the route of Ilia) where Galle tells him about Narcian's demise, only for Murdock to say that he was useless if he could not take care of his own problems. Murdock then sends the treacherous Etrurian lords Roartz and Arcard to guard two fortresses under the control of Bern, in an attempt to get rid of two spineless cowards. While Galle asks him if he was allowed by Zephiel to send them on suicide missions, Murdock quickly points out that the army's code says that its members must face the results of their own actions, which means that Mudock is technically following the rules. Murdock then declares to Galle that he is impressed by the reconstruction of the Lycian League by Roy and is eager to face the young general in battle.
He shows up one last time in Chapter 21, where Roy decides to take over the Shrine of Seals by defeating both Wyvern Generals. Murdock rejoices as he finally gets the chance to see Roy in battle and face him. At the end of their duel and of the fiercest battle of the war with Bern, Murdock dies at Roy's hands, who obtains the Binding Blade and decides to deal with the late Murdock's master, Zephiel.
Fire Emblem Engage[]
Murdock was mentioned by Roy in his paralogue, The Young Lion. The location was known as the Binding Grounds, it was located in western Firene and resembled the Shrine of Seals. Roy revealed to Alear how strong Murdock lead Bern towards him in a grueling battle with his battle axe. Roy takes Murdock's place as the boss of this level.
