Shane McMahon is a pro-wrestler and business executive who appeared with World Wrestling Entertainment from 1998 until his retirement from the wrestling business in 2010 and the former secondary antagonist of WWE  He returned to face The Undertaker in 2016. He was the onscreen commissioner of WWE's weekly television show SmackDown Live. He is the son of Vince McMahon and the brother of Stephanie McMahon. Shane has been portrayed as both a hero and a villain, but like most of the McMahon family, has spent most of his career in a heel role.

He is considered the secondary antagonist of the entire history of the WWE, until his retirement in 2010 and the main antagonist alongside Stephanie McMahon of the Alliance Storyline

McMahon's most notable heel roles include being the a leader within the Corporation, the Ministry of Darkness, and the Corporate Ministry; leading the WCW/ECW Alliance, and helping his father in the feud against D-Generation X.

McMahon later won the WWE World Cup, becoming "The Best in the World" in 2019. He was a surprise entrant in the 2020 Royal Rumble, and was entrant #28. McMahon was one of the final three contestants, before he was eliminated by Brock Lesnar. Following the 2020 Rumble, McMahon was quietly “let go” by the WWE. In 2023, McMahon made a surprise return at WrestleMania 39 to face The Miz, but ended up tearing his quadricep during the match. While the referee and a medical staff member went to check on Shane, Snoop Dog landed a right-hand on The Miz and saved the match.

  • Shane's WWE debut was in 1988 as a referee under the name "Shane Stevens". This was due to Vince McMahon not wanting people to know Shane was his son.
  • In September 2006, Shane was named one of Detail magazine's "50 Most Powerful Men Under 42" in the annual power issue.
  • Shane made a cameo appearance in the 2002 movie Rollerball.
  • In 2019, Shane starred in CIS: Los Angeles as a character named Steve Evans for two episodes.
  • Shane is a playable character in WWF WrestleMania 2000, WWF SmackDown, WWF No Mercy, WWF SmackDown 2: Know Your Role, WWE SmackDown: Just Bring It, WWE Raw, WWE WrestleMania X8, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008. He is a non-playable character (NPC) in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010, however he can be playable in his suit attire by modding the games. After three years of being completely absent in WWE games, he returns as a unlockable playable character in WWE '13, with his Attitude Era appearance. After three more years of being completely absent in WWE games, he returns as an unlockable playable character in WWE 2K16, once again in his Attitude Era appearance. He returns as a playable character in WWE 2K17, with his modern appearance, and has been playable in every WWE game since then.
    • Shane is also Downloadable Content (DLC) in WWE 2K Battlegrounds.
    • Shane is also a playable General Manager the myGM mode of WWE 2K22. He was scheduled to return as a playable GM in the myGM mode of WWE 2K23, but was removed in the final game.
