Stenk: Seems you’ve had your day at last, Frost. Now here comes the thaw!
Frost: It doesn’t have to be this way Stenk, Piggot-Dunceby’s gone.
Stenk: It ain’t about the pay check no more. Now it’s just a matter of shallow, self-centred pride.
~ Stenk to Frost before their final confrontation.

Willard Stenk is the secondary antagonist of Laika's fifth full-length animated feature film Missing Link. He is a bounty hunter and Lord Piggot-Dunceby's right-hand man.

He was voiced by Timothy Olyphant, who also portrayed Mickey Altieri in Scream 2, Thomas Gabriel in Live Free or Die Hard, Agent 47 in Hitman and Lucas Troy in Archer.

Personality[]

Stenk is shown to be proud of his hunting career, finding sick pleasure in murdering living creatures, even if it's a human, showing a great sense of sadism and recklessness.

Biography[]

Stenk is first introduced after Lord Piggot-Dunceby announced to Mr. Collick that he was going to have Sir Lionel Frost assassinated. The seen switched to Stenk in his home, getting ready to go after Frost.

He later appears with his henchmen in western bar after one of the henchman spotted him in the town. Stenk and Frost exchanged introductions, Stenk revealing he was going to kill Frost and that he believed that Frost's journey was all for nothing. Frost then revealed that he had in fact found the Sasquatch; Stenk was struck with amazement and told him that he would be murdering two legends. They began their fight, Frost keeping Stenk from being able to aim his gun and fire it at him. They wrestled with each other while his accomplices tried to take care of the Sasquatch, but to no avail. Eventually Stenk escaped and wrote back to Dunceby of his failure.

Stenk is later seen when Frost and the Sasquatch were being confronted by Adelina Fortnight for having stolen a map. After spotting them he began firing, Adelina returning fire and deciding to join the two on their adventure. They soon after tricked Stenk into boarding the train, making him think that they were boarding it while they stayed behind a wall of luggage.

They changed their mode of transport to boat, but little did they know Stenk had followed them. Stenk spied on the crew until Frost finished his speech with the Sasquatch (now being named Sarah). He took Adelina hostage with gun and threatened Frost, but Sarah got in the way (accidentally knocking Adelina onto the side of the boat). While Sarah helped Adelina, Stenk chased after Frost with an axe as his gun was knocked overboard. They chased each other inside of the ship for a while, Stenk having little success with stopping Frost. Later, after Frost escaped and Sarah holding Adelina walked into the scene, Stenk convinced some of the ship's crew that Sarah was a monster kidnapping a woman. They chased after them, but they along with Frost escaped onto a life boat. The scene switched to Lord Piggot-Dunceby throwing a tantrum at the ship's dock, and concluding he would join Stenk to stop them.

Stenk is briefly seen spying on the crew while they passed through a jungle area on an elephant. He saw a stone statue next to him and pointed his gun at it thinking it was a threat.

He is next seen pointing a gun at an old woman that had helped the gang, Dunceby corrected him and told him the only way to get her to tell them where they were was to threaten her grandson (whom he pulled out of a basket).

He is last seen with Dunceby and Collick on the ice bridge, confronting Frost. Frost told Dunceby that he no longer wanted to be apart of his group, which caused Dunceby to loose his temper and destroy the bridge in attempt to kill Frost and his gang. Stenk began running away just before the bridge began to break, and was the last of the villains to make it to the other side without falling to their death. He saw Frost holding up Sarah and Adelina, deciding to finish him off once and for all out sheer egocentrism, despite Lionel telling him that it was pointless as his employer was dead and there was no mean for him to receive his payment. He tried to stab Frost with his pickaxe, but he ended up falling next to him and having a slap-off. After a brief interval of fighting with each other, Stenk finally met his fate after an ice stalactite knocked him off of Frost and plummeted him to his doom.

Quotes[]

Gotta get myself a grip here. That's better. Regretfully, Sir Lionel, turns out the job I've been hired to do ain't no fool's errand after all. (Sir Lionel Frost: Oh?) I've been paid a pretty sum to stop you and this creature from ever reaching civilized society. Quite a catch. I get to bag two legends in one day.
~ Willard Stenk to Sir Lionel Frost
(Stenk stands over Lionel, who is dangling from a ledge) It ain't about the paycheck anymore, now it's just a matter of shallow, self-centered pride. (Sir Lionel Frost: Careful, Stenk. You know what they say pride comes before.) Wait a minute, I know this. Is it Tuesday? (Sir Lionel pulls Stenk off the ledge)
