Patrick wakes up and geta out of his rock to got to the Krusty Krab. Everyone else runs out of the restaurant because of Patrick's smell, but SpongeBob is amazed by it. After SpongeBob smells Patrick again, Mr. Krabs smells the awful stench and investigates to find out what it is. He finds out that the smell is coming from Patrick and kicks him out of the Krusty Krab because of it. This causes Patrick to get angry and revolt for his stink-dependence.
Patrick starts to mess around in the grimy places in Bikini Bottom, however, after he messes around in the Dump, he gets so filthy that he becomes completely unrecognizable. Patrick goes around the town in his new filthy form, which results in him getting listed in the newspaper as Filthy Muck. SpongeBob finds out about the news and looks for him, with him eventually finding him in the Dump. SpongeBob gives puts on a filthy mustache to protect himself from Filthy Muck's stench, but this results in him joining Filthy Muck's game.
Another news article comes out about how Filthy Muck has a partner. SpongeBob and Filthy go around the town and make people run away with their stench, with the one exception being Old Man Jenkins because he can't smell. The citizens eventually have enough and riot against the two disgusting creatures that have been causing trouble. The decide to spare SpongeBob after he cleans himself and he tries to tell them that Filthy Muck is his friend, and that he doesn't want him to get hurt, but the citizens still try to run Filthy Muck out of town anyway.
SpongeBob tries to clean Filthy Muck and tells everyone that he will turn back to normal again if they all work together to clean him, however, he ends up disappearing after they do so. It's then revealed that Patrick went to take a bath after realizing that he wouldn't be allowed in the Krusty Krab, which means that Filthy Muck was a different person the whole time. Old Man Jenkins freaks out after Patrick let's go of his towel, exposing his posterior to everyone. After the crowd laughs on the hill, the wind blows away the remains of Filthy Muck, and they morph to bring him back to life. Filthy Muck then waves to SpongeBob as thanks for the fun they had, and he takes a picture with Rube.
