~ Finn McCool before rematching him. |
Finn McCool is a minor character of 2024 Roblox RPG game Block Tales, serving as a minor antagonist and secret boss of the game's fourth chapter, Excavation Exploration.
He is the leading figure of his gang who he revealed that he hosted a party for, but according to him, the player allegedly messed with the timeline and ruined his party. As a result, he plans to battle them after encountering them in the Vermillion Village, acting as a superboss in the game. After his first defeat, Finn becomes on much friendlier terms with the player, offering to challenge them to rematches for fun.
Appearance[]
True to his name, Finn McCool is inspired from the titular face on the Roblox catalog. He wears the Supa Fly Cap, has a purple torso, black leggings, and wields a baseball bat as his weapon.
Personality[]
Biography[]
According to the badge description when defeating Finn McCool and his dialogue, it is likely that Finn had something to do with the pre-prologue of the game that led him to become bitter and hostile towards the player. As Finn states, he was hosting one of the best parties, before the player indirectly crashed it. He would later go on to find a spot in the Vermillion Village, where he then encounters the player. Revealing what they had done to him, he plans to enact revenge against them and initiates a fight with them. Once defeated, Finn McCool drops an Aggressor card for the player, and will remain in his exact spot, allowing the player to challenge him to another fight. His dialogue also changes where he states that if the player wasn't responsible for messing up the timeline, he is humbled by his defeat and he offers to challenge them to a rematch every time they talk to him.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Bat Smackdown: Finn spins his bat on his selected target. The bat will hit the target twice before Finn ends off his attack with a kick.
- Bat Combo: Finn swiftly swings his bat twice into his target. If the target doesn't dodge, they will end up with the Slow effect for five turns.
- Baseball Shot: Finn brings out a baseball and batters it into his selected target. On his second hit, he delays his shot by briefly juggling the baseball with his bat. If the target doesn't dodge the ball, they will be confused.
- Flex: Finn takes off his shades and tosses them, healing his party and giving himself the Feel Fine and Fast effects for two turns.
- Call for Help: Finn calls upon his gang members to aid him on the field, filling in any empty slots. The allies he calls upon can either be a Shotgun Bloke or Megaphone Man.
- Charge Power: Finn dashes around and catches his bat while applying the Charged effect to himself.
Trivia[]
- Finn McCool is the second secret boss of the game, the first being the Supreme Mosquito.
- If playing with 1-2 players, Finn McCool has the highest health out of all the enemies in the game. This is excluding Tutorial Terry as his fight is scripted to make the player always lose.
- The old theme for Finn McCool was removed in YouTube and replaced in Block Tales due to it being allegedly being AI generated. However, according to Campyfire, (a former Block Tales developer) the real reason it was removed was due to him having conflict with the theme's producer, Dragkun at the time.
- Campyfire confirmed that Dragkun has used some AI samples to create the theme, but did not contain any AI content in it.
- A new theme is being composed by Nicopatty and Kyles45678, while Finn McCool uses the Sentient Statue's beta theme as a placeholder.
- In an outdated leak of the game, Finn McCool was aligned with various other characters for Chapter 7.[1]
- This implies that he was intended to be a boss of that specific chapter before the game was reworked that led to his new early appearance in Chapter 4.
- According to one of the Block Tales testers, Finn McCool was originally going to have four unique summonable allies as opposed to two in the final game. The two cut members are the Deleter and Devious Dude, with Deleter being moved to the Ancient Tomb after it was decided he wasn't fit for Finn's gang due to his low damage output, and Devious Dude being scrapped due to his code being bugged.[2]
