~ The Fire Giant being cursed by Marika the Eternal |
The Fire Giant is a major antagonist and boss in the 2022 game Elden Ring. He is a giant humanoid who wields a large circular metal dish and possessed fire-based powers.
He was the only survivor of his kind during the War against the Fire Giants, in which nearly all of the giants were slain by Queen Marika the Eternal and the Golden Order. He was then forced with the task of tendering the Flame of his Fell God and prevent those from using it to burn the Erdtree.
The Fire Giant's vocal effects were provided by Shaun Dooley, who also voiced Shabriri in the same game.
Personality[]
The Fire Giant appears to be a devoted follower and worshipper of the Fell God, as evident when being blessed with the powers of his god. The curse that Marika inflicted him with has driven him to become incredibly hostile and aggressive, as a means of ensuring he carries out the task that he is given. Likewise, he does not hesitate to kill those that attempt to stop him from tendering the flame and is willing to sacrifice his own leg to ensure he succeeds in his task.
Biography[]
Past[]
Prior to the age of the Erdtree, the Fire Giant's kind had carved out a civilization in the northern mountains, which were originally ruled over by ice dragons. After chasing the dragons away, there in the mountains, the giants worshipped a Fell God, and because of their devotion they were bound to tend to the Fell God's flame for eternity.
When Marika the Eternal waged war on the giants with her army and her first consort, Godfrey, the giants borrowed the Fell God's power but were still defeated by Marika and the Golden Order with the former striking down the Fell God. In the aftermath of the war against the giants, almost all of the giants are dead, leaving one sole survivor. As the flame in the giants' forge can never be extinguished, Queen Marika proceeded to curse that surviving fire giant into tending to the flame forever. As one of his legs had been permanently wounded, he crafted a leg brace using a bone and some of his red hair braids.
Elden Ring[]
The Fire Giant continued to tend to the Fell God's Flame until he is encountered by a lowly Tarnished. Immediately engaging them in battle, the fire giant tried to kill the Tarnished with his fire powers and a large circular dish (it's unknown on how he obtained it). During an ensuing battle, the fire giant's leg brace was destroyed and he ended up breaking his left leg, causing him to roar in pain. Amputating his broken leg, the fire giant sacrifices it in order to unleash the Fell God's powers. Despite being on more even terms, he was nevertheless slain by the Tarnished.
