The Firecons are minor antagonists in Generation One of the Transformers franchise. They were introduced in the 1988 toyline.
Marvel Comics[]
The Firecons first appeared in the UK-exclusive story "Enemy Action" as a trio of Decepticons sent from Cybertron to make contact with future Decepticon Galvatron, who their leaders saw as a potential ally. This brought them into conflict with the Sparkabots, who had also been sent from Cybertron to monitor Galvatron's activities. The two groups fought but the battle was interrupted by Galvatron, who brought things to an abrupt end by outright objecting the Firecons' offer of an alliance.
The Firecons returned in "Deadly Games", where they were working with the alien Zabra, providing him with Autobot prisoners to use in gladiatorial combat. They captured Ultra Magnus and the Sparkabots when they investigated but beat a hasty retreat when the Autobots defeated Zabra and killed his guard.
They made their only Marvel US appearance in Issue #46, where they continued to function as gaolers on Cybertron. With the Sparkabots and Triggerbots among their prisoners, they selected Fizzle, Sizzle and Backstreet to be sent to Earth as part of Scorponok's test of human robot hunters the Roadjammers.
The Firecons were not seen together again as a unit but remained among the roster of Decepticons on Cybertron, with individual members popping up occasionally. On one occasion, Cindersaur and Flamefeather worked together as part of a squad led by Ruckus, investigating the deaths of a group of Decepticons at the hands of Underworld demons. Although not seen, they were apparently still with the Decepticons after the battle with Unicron: In US Issue #79, Sparkstalker is mentioned as the only casualty of the attack on Klo, having been accidentally incinerated by Cindersaur.
