Your Scalinesses, I have observed the ways of these land-walkers and have found them to be highly uncivilized. Wearing shoes, sipping tea, blinking. It gets worse. Using household appliances, sitting for extended periods, watching the noise-and-picture machine. And worst of all, imprisoning fish for their own amusement! We cannot ignore such vile behavior. Your Puffinesses, I petition the court to pronounce these three guilty.
~ The Fishtonary to the Sea Judges.

The Fishtionary is a minor antagonist from Courage the Cowardly Dog, appearing in the episode "Fishy Business".

She was voiced by Susan Sarandon, who also played Queen Narissa in Disney's Enchanted, and Coco LaBouche in Nickelodeon's Rugrats in Paris: The Movie.

Biography[]

The Fishtionary is a purple female fish who tricked the three Sea Judges and the Octopus into thinking the Bagges were the enemies. The Octopus sends Di Lung away and the three Sea Judges told the Octopus to put red gils on the Bagges to make them breath in water, until they will turn into fishes. Courage fights the Octopus and wraps his face and attackes his tentacles on the giant fish bowl with the Bagges in it and on the marine truck. The three Sea Judges and their Lobsters see Courage driving away. Courage got back to his house and he sees that the Fishtionary who was indulging herself in human pastimes, including eating other fish and the three Sea Judges see her with Courage and Courage and the Judges get shocked.

One Judge dryed up and they tell the Octopus to release the Bagges and Courage takes the red gils off of the Bagges. The Sea Judges and the Lobsters tell the Octopus to put the Fishtionary to her bowl. He grabs the Fishtionary and throws her in the fish bowl, despite her protests.

Personality[]

At first glance, she seems to be a representative of fish and the poor treatment they receive from being eaten by humans, mostly at the cost of deceiving humans. However, she is later revealed to be a hypocrite as after she gets the Bagges taken away from their house, she is shown engaging in un-fish like behavior, including eating sushi.

The Fishionary speaks in a very condescending tone when telling her superiors of the Bagge Family's "crimes" which consist of normal human behavior (even blinking).

Trivia[]

  • The Fishionary calling blinking a crime is most likely an in-joke about how real-life fish are incapable of blinking.
