Flame Stag, originally known as Flame Stagger, is a minor antagonist in Mega Man X2. He planned to send the world into the next ice age by erupting under Sigma's orders. He is one of the 8 Mavericks fought in the game.
Flame wields the Speed Burner for his main weapon. This allows those who copy him to fire intertwined fire streams forwards.

While not much is known about him, but it's possible Flame may be a nihilist like Boomer Kuwanger as they both defected together. The circumstances surrounding his defection is also unclear, and it's unknown if he was brainwashed or not.
Appearance[]
Flame Stagger resembles a deer. He has fiery antlers sprouting from his head, and his wrists are constantly ablaze. His outfit is a red shirt and "trousers" and white gloves. Flame's shirt is covered by a blue breastplate and blue cuffs on the sleeves and blue and white boots. Dealing enough damage to him changes the fire to blue.
Biography[]
Flame Stag was a member of the Maverick Hunter's 17th Unit. After defecting alongside Boomer Kuwanger, he later disappeared. He later returned and was seen planning to erupt a volcano with intentions of plunging the world into the next Ice Age. He was later killed by X before he was able to erupt the volcano.
Flame Stag attacks by leaping across his chamber, trying to charge into X and throwing fireballs. Once his health is low, Flame Stag's fire will turn from red to blue and his attacks become much faster. His weakness is the Bubble Splash.

- Flame Stag is shown with red fire in his artwork, but in his intro pose, his fire turns blue. It turns back to red at the start of his fight.
- Flame Stag's flames turn blue in the second phase of his battle, making him one of the few mavericks to change appearance mid battle.
- Flame Stag's weapon can be used to change the weather to hot weather in Wire Hetimarl's stage.
