Fly (Popeye)

The Fly is a one-time villain from Popeye the Sailor Man, only appearing in the episode "Flies Ain't Human". He is an anthropomorphic fly who tormented Popeye and drove him crazy.

Biography

In "Flies Ain't Human", Popeye tried to go to sleep. Meanwhile, a fly watched him from the table and thought of a way to pull a prank on him. The fly plucked a strong and tickled Popeye's nose with it but then Popeye crushed the fly between his nose and his chin. Popeye blew the fly and the fly got caught in his strands of hair. The fly later flew down to Popeye's ear and started screaming "Hey!" into it, causing an echo. The fly screamed "HEY!" so loud that it scared Popeye awake. Popeye noticed the fly and then sucked it into his pipe, where he trapped it and then threw it across the room. The fly landed in a can of spinach. Popeye assumed he had won and went back to sleep. However, the battle was not nearly over yet as the fly ate some spinach which gave him super strength. The fly lit a match and then stuck the match in Popeye's shoe to burn his foot. Popeye leaped around in pain and the fly punched Popeye in the nose like a punching bag. Popeye tried swatting the fly with a flyswatter but the fly grabbed the flyswatter back from Popeye and swatted him with it. The fly flew around the room and start picking things up and dropping them on Popeye such as plates, cups, lightbulbs, and chairs. After Popeye was knocked to the ground, the fly yanked a carpet out from under him making him fall on his face. The fly got into a boxing glove and then flew up to Popeye. Popeye got ready to box with the fly but then the fly opens the hand of the boxing glove, as though it was awaiting a handshake, making a peace offering. Popeye got ready to shake hands with the boxing glove only for it to punch him in the face when he had his guard down. Popeye tried to lure the fly into his trap with a sugar cube but the fly just threw a sugar cube at Popeye's eye and knocked him back into a painting. The fly laughed at Popeye and then got on some toothpicks and skied down Popeye's face. Popeye was officially done with the fly and grabbed his gun from the fireplace and started shooting the fly. In the process, Popeye ended up shooting up his entire house until it was a pile of rubble. At this point, the fly was completely absent so Popeye assumed he had won. Popeye went back to sleep only for a swarm of other flies to come in and start tormenting him, making his life miserable once again.
