Flyeyes: I woke up in hell... because this world is insane. And... I learned something about sin.
Isaac: What did you learn?
Flyeyes: I learned... to like it. Yet, here I am, back on the surface of the Earth... strong and free, in a world where thinking... is considered something that should be tortured and murdered. Thank you... for my second life. I intend to use it well and make wonderful new dreams of it.
~ Flyeyes speaking with Isaac.
Who's a pretty girl? Who's a pretty girl? That right, you are.
~ Flyeyes to a doll.

Flyseyes is a minor antagonist of the Netflix animated series Castlevania. He is one of Isaac's night creatures and the only one with the ability to speak. Because of this, Isaac converses with him from time to time, with Flyseyes eventually revealing his old life as a philosopher in Athens.

He is voiced by Gildart Jackson, who also portrayed Gideon in Charmed and the Major in Hellsing Ultimate.

Appearance[]

Flyseyes appears to have the body of a dead fly that Isaac turned into a night creature, with his eponymous eyes, his wings, and six long appendages, as well as a gray exoskeleton. He is quite short, with Isaac towering over him. When out in the sun, he wears a dull green cloak.

Personality[]

I can also choose, in the end, to recognize that you are not tools at all, for no tool would taste a berry and remember the time in its first life when it compounded them.
~ Isaac to Flyeyes.

In life, it seems that Flyseyes was an intelligent and thoughtful individual. However, he was somewhat disloyal and gave up his companions, and naive, since he believed the Christians would spare him for his treachery.

After spending centuries in hell, Flyseyes became bitter against mankind and the world in general and was thrilled with the prospect of spreading misery and destruction as a night creature. However, he still retained his philosophical spirit and was able to make astute observations. It is implied that he may have begun to seek things other than destruction upon Isaac's change of heart.

Biography[]

Life[]

I was betrayed, forgemaster. I was hunted. I was tortured. I lied for my life... in a church, before a judge. I gave up others so that I may live. I became a sinner.
~ Flyseyes.

In life, Flyseyes was a philosopher who lived in Athens. During the rise of Christianity, he questioned the existence of God. For this he was persecuted and betrayed to the Church, who believed that thinking about the God was a sin.

Flyseyes was captured by the Christians and brought before a judge, where they tortured him, telling him that they would only stop it he sold out his colleagues. Flyseyes eventually agreed to their demands, hoping to live, but was killed anyway. After his death, he woke up in hell for his treachery.

As a Night Creature[]

About a thousand years later, Forgemaster Isaac pulled his soul out of hell and put it into the body of a fly night creature, as was custom when a Forgemaster creates a Night Creature. Since Flyseyes was the only one of Isaac's night creatures who could speak, the Forgemaster and night creature would often have talks, philosophizing about the world, with Flyseyes once explaining his history and describing his thrill at getting revenge on the world. During this time, Flyseyes participated in Isaac's massacres.

When Isaac decided reconstruct the Magician's city and bury the bodies of its citizens, Flyseyes participated, but was confused about why they were doing it. He confronted Isaac about this, saying that building was against night creature nature, to which Isaac said that nature is fluid and that night creatures could do whatever they wanted. During the conversation, Isaac gave Flyseyes a berry, which brought back memories for the night creature, who observed that Isaac had changed.
