| ~ Mineru explaining the nature of the Forbidden Construct. |
The Forbidden Construct is the secondary antagonist of Nintendo's 2025 hack-and-slash science fantasy video game, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. It is a Construct Warrior awakened by Phantom Ganon, converting it a vessel of darkness that seeks to destroy all of Hyrule.
Personality[]
The Forbidden Construct is a malicious being, born from the result of possessing Ganondorf's gloom. What was once a normal Construct Warrior has now been transformed into a vicious being that seeks destruction across all of Hyrule. In contrast to the Knight Construct, who possesses the will and heroism of a knight, the Forbidden Construct possesses the darkness of pure evil.
Unlike some of other Ganondorf's minions such as the Archfiends, the Forbidden Construct has no real sense of loyalty and authority in comparison, making it a truly unpredictable force to deal with. Because of this, the Forbidden Construct is often used by Ganondorf as an unrestrained beast that he lets go freely to destroy his enemies without concern.
History[]
Past[]
The Forbidden Construct was one of the many Construct Warriors constructed by the ancient Zonai Tribe, who created them with the ability to create and utilize Zonai devices for their own uses. Their purpose as weapons made them a dangerous force to deal with and they would soon rebel against and kill most of their creators because of it, leading to them being sealed away in the Depths beneath Tobio's Hollow.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment[]
Era of Foundation[]
Many years later during the Era of Foundation, the Forbidden Construct was reawakened after being discovered by Phantom Ganon, who had sneaked in the guarded tombs, posing as Princess Zelda. Upon absorbing Phantom Ganon into its core, the Forbidden Construct destroyed the remaining constructs of its kind and left its tomb to begin wrecking havoc on Hyrule.
Following its awakening, Ganondorf realized it had absorbed Phantom Ganon and resurrected his puppet before receiving a report from Koume and Kotake that the Forbidden Construct was in the vicinity of the Great Plateau.
The Forbidden Construct arrived at Hyrule Castle, where it was confronted by King Rauru. King Rauru managed to fend it off and drive it away from the castle. Shortly after, the Forbidden Construct continued its havoc across Hyrule and came into conflict with the Zora Tribe, where it managed to kill its king. This act led to Qia ascend as queen of the Zora and was determined to destroy the Forbidden Construct, motivated by the death of her father.
Imprisoning War[]
The Battle of Gerudo Desert[]
After the army of monsters and demons created by Ganondorf that were sent to Gerudo Desert were defeated and repelled by the combined Hyrulean forces during the battle of Gerudo Desert, the Forbidden Construct showed up at their camp to finish them off. Realizing the threat it posed and that even together his forces stood no chance against it, King Rauru ordered a retreat while the Knight Construct and Calamo stayed behind to hold it off and cover their allies' retreat. In battle the Knight Construct and Calamo were able to repel the Forbidden Construct.
The Second Battle of Great Hyrule Forest[]
After the Hyrulean forces managed to free Great Hyrule Forest from Ganondorf's forces, the Forbidden Construct was sent there with Grimgibdo to burn it down. After starting a fire and destroying several trees it was engaged by some rito soldiers. During the battle it decided to fly off, much to the annoyance of Grimgibdo.
Empowered by the Demon King[]
After the death of the Archfiends, Ganondorf resurrected them and had Phantom Ganon in the form of Gloom Spawn pull them out of a pool of gloom along with the Forbidden Construct. After ordering off the Archfiends he added more gloom to the Forbidden Construct's core, further empowering it.
The Battle of Hyrule Field[]
Following the defeat of Grimgibdo during the battle of Hyrule Field, the dying Archfiend of Sand used the last of her strength to rip her right arm off and throw it at Calamo. The already damaged Knight Construct body blocked the attack, sustaining critical damage to its core and collapsing. Taking advantage of the situation, the Forbidden Construct arrived to finish off the Knight Construct and Calamo. Using the remaining energy in his critically damaged core, the Knight Construct got back up and engaged the Forbidden Construct in a final confrontation alongside Calamo. After a long fight across both the surface and sky, the construct and korok duo were eventually successful in bringing the Forbidden Construct down to its knees near Mount Daphnes.
Refusing to accept defeat however, the Forbidden Construct used what remaining energy it had left to shoot gloom beams at Calamo and the Knight Construct, create a large gloom storm, and charge its hand with energy before dashing towards the Knight Construct to finish him off. The Knight Construct however was able to tap into the sacred power to repel evil the Master Sword fragment in his core contained and summon a simulacrum of the Master Sword.
Using that, he was able to finish off the Forbidden Construct by releasing all the energy in his core at the exact moment King Rauru sealed Ganondorf. The Forbidden Construct was destroyed in the resulting explosion, marking the end of the Imprisoning War and its threat to Hyrule though the critically damaged Knight Construct also didn't survive.
