The Forgotten Children are the titular main antagonists of Alberto Vazquez's 1st full-length animated feature film Birdboy: The Forgotten Children.
They are a tribe of vicious anthropomorphic teenage rats who rule the wasteland portion of the island.
Biography[]
Little is known about the origins of the Forgotten Children, but it could be assumed that they were once ordinary citizens of the island. One day, the local factory exploded, turning the island into a wasteland with little food or vegetation. The Forgotten Children was soon formed, a society of rats who have no parents who ruled over the destroyed portion of the island for they had no laws to follow.
The Forgotten Children are not introduced until late in the film when Dinky, Sandra, and Little Fox unintentionally wander into their territory after affording a inflatable duck which they plan to use to escape the island. The Forgotten Children ambush them, assuming them to be thieves out to steal from them. Little Fox tries to tell them that they were only passing through, only for one to punch him down and call him a liar, as foxes were seen as liars. They then steal their belongings and smash their piggy bank, unaware that he was sentient which kills him. They also leave the duck who was in his box alone as they could profit over him. The Forgotten Children then take the three kids to their village to ask their leader's decision on their trespassers. In the meantime, Little Fox is tortured for being a "liar".
At the village of the Forgotten Children, the three meet the blind leader, who finds their amateur "thieving" pathetic and assumes them to be cops. Dinky offers to not report them if they let them go, only to anger the leader when she mentions not knowing who they were. The leader taunts them, telling them that while the Forgotten Children were their own law in filth, the three are nothing but meat. To make themselves feel useful, the leader orders his men to torture them to death by cutting them until they bleed out, so they can feed off their pain.
Hearing the commotion, Zacharias' pet parrot flies off to warn Birdboy of his friends being in danger. Birdboy's anger awakens the demon within him, allowing it to possess him and turn him into a large raptor-shaped beast. The demon lunges at the Forgotten Children's village and effortlessly slaughters the populace, including ripping their leader in half. The demon then breathes green fire upon the village and burns it down, leaving no trace of the Forgotten Children behind.
