The Formless Shadow is a minor antagonist of the Rusty Quill horror podcast The Magnus Archives, serving as the main antagonist of Mag 86: Tucked In. It was a shadowy monster responsible for tormenting and eventually killing both Robin Patton and Benjamin Hatendi.
Appearance[]
The Formless Shadow was described as a silhouette so dark it could be seen even in the pitch black. It had a fat, bulbous body and no limbs or head that could be visible. It was covered in fleshy tubes that spasmed wildly. When it moved, it did so with a slow, undulating pulse. It had a surprisingly crisp voice.
Personality[]
The Formless Shadow was a sadistic entity that mainly desired the fear and pain of human beings. It enjoyed feeding on people, but instead of simply killing them, it made them as afraid and despairing as possible, finding it amusing. It frequently toyed with its victims, slowing down its hunt until the perfect moment.
Biography[]
At some point, the Formless Shadow turned its attention towards a young man named Robin Patton, possibly because he made contact with "Brackish Black Water" during one of his swims in a natural pool or lake. It isolated and tormented him for a little under a month, leaving him huddled in a blanket in one of his cupboards, killing him there.
The creature lurked around the house until Robin's friend Benjamin Hatendi came looking for him. Benjamin reported Robin's body to the police and went home, and the shadow followed him. The next night, at 4:20, it entered Benjamin's room and began to approach his bed. Benjamin hid under his blankets, which amused the creature, and it stopped moving, pretending that hiding under the blankets somehow stopped it. For several nights, it entered Benjamin's room and stopped moving when he hid under his blankets. Eventually, it grew tired of this game and jumped on top of Benjamin's bed, telling him that the blankets had never actually done anything and burning him severely. The next night, it came again and killed him.
