Fortissimodo is the keyboard and musician-themed monster of the Machine Empire serving King Mondo and a minor antagonist in Power Rangers Zeo. He serves as the titular main antagonist of the episode "Instrument of Destruction" and a cameo antagonist in the episode "It came from Angel Grove."

He is voiced by the late Scott Page-Pagter who previously voiced the Peckster, the Oysterizer, Pirantishead, the 3rd member of the Plague Patrol and the Face Stealer in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and later voiced Porto in Power Rangers Turbo and Steelon in Power Rangers Wild Force.

Biography

On Queen Machina's birthday, King Mondo notices a mysterious pianist playing the piano in the music section of Angel Grove High School. As such, he decides to kidnap him since Machina loves classical music but the Cogs that Prince Sprocket sends repeatedly fail to capture him; first because they get cold feet when Adam stares them down and then because the Zeo Rangers keep on intervene. Frustrated and realising that he needs someone more competent than the Cogs, Mondo decides to create additional muscle by turning the concert hall piano into Fortissimodo and having him help the Cogs to grab the pianist as he heads to the Angel Grove Concert Hall. However, Adam has been following the pianist and morphs to fight off the Cogs. Although Fortissimodo quickly gains the upper-hand, the other Zeo Rangers arrive and Tommy blasts him with the Zeo Laser Pistol so he retreats to a safe distance. Klank and Orbus then quickly enlarge Fortissimodo because Queen Machina has almost arrived and being giant makes it easier to capture the pianist but the cloaked figure has already fled.

The giant Fortissimodo then tries to grab the pianist but Adam draws his attention which allows the musician to escape but the blasts him with fire and grabs the Ranger. Soon after though, Tommy summons Zeozord V and knocks him down with the Defender Wheel which forces Fortissimodo to drop Adam. Once the last Cogs are gone, they devastate Fortissimodo with an energy barrage and form the Zeo Megazord which the monster tries to destroy with explosive musical notes but this fails. As such, Fortissimodo uses his baton instead but is quickly killed by the Zeo Megazord Saber. After Fortissimodo's death, the school's piano returns to normal and it is at the organ where Adam quickly discovers that Skull is the pianist who has been hiding his identity as he fears Bulk mocking him for his secret talent.

After Prince Sprocket complains about Punch-A-Bunch damaging himself during battle against the Zeo Rangers, Boohoo the Clown is indirectly referenced along with all previous monsters used up to that point when Machina reassures her distraught son that the Rangers have ruined all of their monsters.

A dream version of Fortissimodo is seen after Zordonicus reveals himself to be King Mondo and torments Adam with a group of Cogs and past monsters. However, this version of Fortissimodo almost immediately ceases to exist when Adam abruptly wakes up from his dream.

Fortissimodo is later rebuilt and seen in the audience at Prince Gasket's Machine Arena when Tommy forces Jason to fight Altor. However, the Rangers are later able to escape after Tritor destroys the shield generator which renders Gasket's plan a failure. What happened to Fortissimodo after this is unknown as he was never seen again but it is likely that Zordon's Energy Wave vaporised him since there was nothing redeemable about him.

Personality

Fortissimodo is on the surface a stereotypical musician and conductor who spoke in musical lingo. Like many stereotypical musicians, he deliberately mispronounces words to sound more sophisticated (eg musician as "muse-is-e-ce-ann"). However, he is also a sadistic kidnapper and violent sadist that is completely loyal to King Mondo. Even so, he is cowardly as he falls back to a safe distance when all five Zeo Rangers rally.

Powers and Abilities

• Strength: Fortissimodo took down Adam with a single strike of his baton to the Ranger's back and, when giant, could knock back the Zeo Megazord with single slashes and a stab from his baton.
• Durability: Fortissimodo is uninjured by being brutally shot by Tommy's Zeo Laser Pistol, struck by the Defender Wheel, a powerful barrage from Zeozords I and II, and repeated punches from the Zeo Megazord.
• Portal Transportation: Fortissimodo can summon purple-black cog portals to allow him to any location at will. These were the same type used by the Cogs.
• Flame Breath: Fortissimodo can breath orange flames from his mouth capable of causing large explosions and knocking down Adam with one hit.
• Energy Balls: Fortissimodo can fire pink energy balls from his face capable of causing large explosions but failed to stop the Zeozords.
• Musical Note Blasts: Fortissimodo can play his piano and fire explosive blue musical notes from the keys at the enemy. These are strong enough to cause large explosions and knock back the Zeo Megazord.

Trivia

• Because his Japanese counterpart did not have a growth sequence in Ohranger, instead having Bara Devil grow giant sized off-screen, Mean Screen's growth sequence was used as a substitute.
