“ | Zephia: As for who I am, my name is Zephia. I am a Mage Dragon of great power... and Lord Sombron's humble servant in all things. As for my companions here... they are like family to me. Together, we known as the Four Hounds. Griss: Hah! You tell yourself that. She's a dragon, and the rest of us are humans. Family, she calls us... The name's Griss, and I'm not the prisoner-taking type. Marni: Call me Marni. I heard we'd be meeting some royalty today... but you look like a bunch of losers to me. Mauvier: I am Mauvier. The pleasure is all mine. Lady Veyle has told us much about you. |

~ The Four Hounds introducing themselves. |
The Four Hounds are the secondary antagonists in Nintendo's 2023 tactical role-playing video game Fire Emblem Engage.
Four of the most devoted and elite followers of Sombron, they aim to collect all twelve of the Emblem Rings to free their master and restore Gradlon, after it was sealed away following Sombron's defeat thousands of years ago.
Biography[]
It's unknown when the Four Hounds was formed, but it's safe to assum that they have been around for quite some time. While the Four Hounds may be Sombron most loyal followers, they also see themselves as a family, given their past.
Zephia is the first member to be seen in the game, first appearing in the game's fifth chapter, "Retaking the Castle". In this chapter, Zephia and her subordinate Nelucce take over Firene Castle and hold Queen Ève hostage, demanding she hands over her Emblem Ring. However, this failed when Alear and their allies used Firene's ring to drive their forces out of the fortress. Enraged, Zephia when on to kill Nelucce for his failure.
Both Griss and Marni are briefly seen in the game's ninth chapter, "A Clash of Forces", where they act under direct authority of Hyacinth.
All four members, including Mauvier, first appear together at the end of the game's tenth chapter, "The Fell Dragon Sombron". After Hyacinth's death and Veyle revealing herself to be the Fell Child, the Four Hounds enter the cathedral to defeat Alear and their allies. Recognizing Zephia from her attempted siege, Alear and their allies at first ready themselves to fight the evil group, planning to use the Emblem Rings to take them down. However, this plan fails when Veyle spirits away the artifacts to give them to Sombron, forcing their patron lords to be his peons. With no way to fight against the group, the heroes are forced to flee in the following chapter, "Retreat", with Veyle's army of corrupted in hot pursuit. Seeing the situation, Ivy and her retainers give Alear their emblem rings, allowing for them to fend off the villains and escape with their lives.
In the chapters following "Retreat", the Four Hounds make numerous attempts to steal the remaining Emblem Rings, wanting to strip the heroes of their power before destroying them. In Chapter 14, "The Battle for Solm", Zephia, Marni, and Mauvier ally themselves with a brainwashed Hortensia to attack Solm Palace to claim its owner's ring. Following their failure in taking it, they then attempt to steal the Emblem of the Sacred in Chapter 16, "Seashore Travels", where they are unsuccessful once again. In the following chapter, "Serenity in Ruin", the Four Hounds ally themselves with Veyle and a now-corrupted Hyacinth to try and fail to defeat Alear's army in the ruins of Florra Port.
In Chapter 21, "The Return", Zephia and Griss take over Lythos Castle. Having grown disillusioned with Veyle's machinations, Mauvier and later Marni ally themselves with Alear to defeat their former allies. As the two of them attempt to escort Alear to Lythos, Zephia manages to successfully have Veyle fully succumb to Sombron's control using a special helmet. Upon seeing Veyle, Marni attempts to free her from the helmet's brainwashing, only to be rewarded with an unsucessful attempt and her death at Zephia's hands. Enraged at his former comrade's heartlessness, Mauvier fully commits himself to joining Alear's army, thus dissolving the Four Hounds.
