The Fourth Chorus is a minor antagonist in Hollow Knight: Silksong. It is a colossal automaton powered by countless silkflies that is found inactive in the Far Fields, presumably after failing to eliminate the Seamstress there. When Hornet collects the Drifter's Cloak, the Fourth Chorus awakens and attacks her, possibly mistaking her for its previous target.
Appearance[]
The Fourth Chorus is a massive automaton resembling an anthropomorphic beetle. It has a golden round body with a circular head, which is its weakspot. It is equipped with four large silver arms. On its legs and the bottom of its abdomen are scorches in the metal frame, presumably from the lava of the Far Fields.
Biography[]
The Fourth Chorus was constructed by the Citadel to serve as either a war machine or guardian force. It appears to have been sent to kill the Seamstress, a member of the Pinstress order the Citadel had tried to eliminate, but was defeated by her after she stabbed her pin within its neck, deactivating it and burying it under rubble.
When Hornet first arrives, the machine is deactivated underneath a pile of rocks. Because the exit is blocked off by a large cliff and an airway, Hornet needs assistance from the nearby Seamstress. Upon completing her quest, Hornet upgrades her cloak into the Drifter's Cloak, allowing her to ride the airways. However, upon returning to the Fourth Chorus' room, the mechanical monstrosity comes to life and attacks.
The Fourth Chorus sweeps the platform with its bottom hands while slamming into it with its upper hands. Doing so will cause a portion of the platform to sink into lava until it resurfaces. It can also slam into the ceiling, causing molten rocks to fall from the platform.
Once enough damage has been dealt, the edge platforms give way and reveal two airways that lead to the top of the arena, where a large rock sits at the top. Striking the two magma rocks to the sides of the rock will cause it to give way and fall on top of the Fourth Chorus' head, instantly defeating it and it collapses into the lava. Alternatively, Hornet can simply keep striking the head until the automaton is slain. When defeated, the hundreds of silkflies powering the Fourth Chorus fly out of its eyes.
Later on, one of the Grand Hunt wishes requires Hornet to slay a Savage Beastfly that can be found in the same arena that she fought the Fourth Chorus. If the boulder was not used to kill the Fourth Chorus, Hornet can repurpose it to kill the Savage Beastfly.
Trivia[]
- The Fourth Chorus's arms are shorter in its Hunter's Journal picture (which is used on this page) than in its actual sprite, allowing it to actually fit into the pages of the Hunter's Journal.
