Foutch (also known as the Guardian of the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava) is a villain and boss character from Rayman 2: The Great Escape. He is also the Guardian of the third Mask of Polokus. He is the elemental Guardian of the third Mask of Polokus located in the rocky and fiery Sanctuary of Rock and Lava located on the marshes.

Biography

He used to be good, but has then been driven insane by the Robo-Pirates' destruction of the Heart of the World. He doesn't listen to Rayman and thinks he is a lying thief who has come to steal the Mask for malevolent purposes. Ly the Fairy tries to "contact his spirit" but is unable to calm him down. However, the only Guardian whose spirit Ly successfully contacted is Umber, the Guardian of the second Mask.

Before encountering Foutch, Rayman travels through the corridors of the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava but finds nor the guardian nor the mask. It turns out that the mask is hidden Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava where Ly gives him the new power. Rayman must traverse through the corridors flooded with lava by using his flight ability. He flies into a room with flowing lava that appears to be a dead end. However Foutch catches Rayman by surprise and punches him so hard, making him lose his new super helicopter power from Ly the Fairy and falls into the lava stream. At the bottom of the room surrounded by lava waterfalls, Rayman asks Foutch if he's the Guardian to which he responds in the affirmative and then immediately accuses Rayman of being the mask thief and a liar despite Rayman's explaining and he must fight Foutch. This makes Foutch to be the most aggressive of the Guardians. The strategy is similar as with Axel - Rayman has to hit a stalactite with his magic fist, causing it fall down on Foutch's head. The only difference is that Rayman has to do it three times instead of one like with Axel.

When defeated, Foutch explodes, releasing many Red and Purple Lums.
