~ Fredrick Tucker talking about sexually abusing Layla Briggs. |
Frederick Tucker is the secondary antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Stocks and Bondage". He is a sexual sadist who, along with his childhood friend and partner in crime Frank Martin, sexually abuse and murder one of the latter's female employees.
He was portrayed by V. Craig Heidenreich.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Tucker is from Tennessee, where he and his childhood friend Frank Martin frequently tied up and sexually assaulted young, black girls for sadistic thrills, getting away with it because they were minors and their victims "were only colored girls". As an adult, he worked as an auditor for the state Department of Commerce and Insurance, while Martin moved to New York City and started Martin Global Fund, Inc., a multibillion dollar investment firm. Martin secretly conspired with Tucker to embezzle money from his own firm, with Martin laundering the money through diamonds and a fake charity and Tucker cooking the books to hide illegal activity under the guise of performing an audit.
Martin introduced Tucker to New York's underground S&M club scene, and they developed a reputation for inflicting non-consensual pain upon women. They "shared" Layla Briggs, one of Martin's employees and an accomplice in the fraud and money laundering scheme. One night, they had a threesome that involved choking, but Tucker choked too hard and strangled her to death. He and Martin made her death look like a suicide and fled the scene, unaware that her whip contained $500,000 in diamonds she had stolen from the company.
"Stocks and Bondage"[]
Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit investigate Briggs' death as a murder after finding the diamonds and discovering Martin's embezzlement scheme and history of abusing women. They question Tucker, who claims to be auditing Martin Global Fund, Inc. and investigating Martin for fraud. After Martin murders David Kelp, the head of the fake charity, to keep him quiet, his girlfriend Angela Torres, another of Martin's accomplices, tells Benson and Stabler that he is hiding out at a nearby hotel. When they search the hotel, however, they find Tucker.
Benson and Stabler bring Tucker to the SVU station house and interrogate him. Tucker admits to participating in the fraud, claiming that Martin bribed him with a share of the embezzled funds and sexual favors from Briggs. After learning about the history between Tucker and Martin from Martin's girlfriend Amy, however, they find evidence proving that the two were present at the murder scene. They arrest Martin, who panics and confesses to helping Tucker kill Briggs.
Meanwhile, Detectives John Munch and Brian Cassidy confront Tucker with evidence of what he and Martin did to the Black girls back in Tennessee, but he arrogantly laughs it aside, saying it "broke the boredom". Detective Monique Jeffries, who is Black, stares Tucker down and derides him as "the redneck behind the facade of the New South", and then tells him that Martin has given him up. When Tucker asks what that means, Cassidy replies, "It means you and Frank are gonna hang." Tucker and Martin are found guilty of murder and rape, and are later executed.
