“ | Listen up now! Leaders of the Free World in the motherf-cking house. Me and Papa Doc'll battle any motherf-ckers here. | „ |

The Free World is the main antagonistic faction of the 2002 musical drama film 8 Mile. They are a group of rappers who frequently bully and harass B-Rabbit and his crew, both by battle rapping and physical violence.
History[]
The Free World first appears briefly at the Shelter in the beginning of the movie, during a rap battle between Shorty Mike and Papa Doc, the leader of the Free World gang. Shortly after, they are seen laughing and making fun of B-Rabbit after he fails to battle against the rapper Lil' Tic.
In their next appearance, the Free World shows up at the parking lot, challenging the Three One Third (B-Rabbit's crew) and the other rappers there. When Lyckety-Splyt makes fun of Rabbit for his "choke act" last night, Rabbit attacks him and a fight ensues. 313 member Wink breaks up the fight, as he is friends with both crews. Later, Rabbit punches Lotto on the street, resulting in another brawl between the crews. The fight is stopped when Cheddar Bob accidentally shoots himself in the leg.
Later on in the movie, B-Rabbit catches his lover Alex cheating on him with Wink, and attacks him. As a result, Wink leaves B-Rabbit's crew and joins the Free World, leading them to Rabbit's trailer. The Free World assaults Rabbit and Papa Doc holds him at gunpoint, but Wink dissuades him from killing Rabbit.
In the climax of the movie, three members of the Free World (Lyckety-Splyt, Lotto and Papa Doc) battle B-Rabbit at The Shelter. Rabbit easily defeats them all, prompting the Free World to leave and the audience chanting "3-1-3, fuck Free World!"
Trivia[]
- The Free World calls their members "Rookies" instead of "Members".
