The Freelancer is a villain in the thriller TV-series The Blacklist, appearing in several seasons. He is a notorious and greedy yet enigmatic assassin-for-hire who has managed to escape justice for years using strategic methods while having no real opponents, always working for different people.
He was portrayed by Daniel Sauli.
Biography[]
The Freelancer is, as is obvious by his name, a freelance assassin who doesn't work for any specific hirers. His constant M.O., which has worked excellently, is having specific targets that his hirers say killed, but to kill them by causing mass murdering terrorist attacks done to distract authorities from the real target, such as killing a French diplomat by blowing up the plane he was on. Raymond Reddington himself has stated that the Freelancer has murdered over three thousand victims over the course of his career, and the body count will only grow unless he is stopped before it's too late.
Reddington informs the FBI about the Freelancer's next target in the present-day, which is a federal judge and that the attack is happening on a train, which could kill hundreds. However, when they actually come to the train station to prevent the attack, nothing happens, but once they are leaving, the attack happens. Although it is unknown if the attack was hired by him, Reddington hires the Freelancer to kill the corrupt businesswoman Floriana Campo who is seemingly trying to stop human trafficking while running one herself. During her fundraiser, the Freelancer disguises as her waiter and secretly poisons her drink, before being chased by the FBI and later put into interrogation after being captured, where he states that his hirer is in fact Reddington.
