Markus "Mark" Sebastian Grayson, also known as "Maskvincible", is a minor antagonist in the Image Comics comic series Invincible comics and its Amazon Prime Video animated TV series adaptation of the same name.

Similar to many other alternate iterations of Invincible, he ultimately transformed into a supervillain in one form or another. Maskvincible was among the evil variants of Invincible that Angstrom Levy gathered to initiate the Invincible War in the primary dimension.

He is voiced by Steven Yeun, who also played all the other Team Evil Invincible, A. Traveler in The Twilight Zone, Ricky "Jupe" Park in Nope and Danny Cho in Beef.

Appearance[]

Maskvincible wears a suit that covers his whole body. It has black boots and no kneel pads, and black mask entirely covers his head with white goggles.

Personality[]

Maskvincible, a supervillain hailing from an alternate universe, participated in the multiversal onslaught with a chilling indifference to the chaos around him. However, he stood apart from his fellow villains. While he was willing to unleash havoc, he harbored a profound love for his late mother, cherished memories of his past, and generally exhibited a softer nature. He often flinched at the ruthless tactics and unyielding ambition for domination displayed by his counterparts.

This inner turmoil was further emphasized by his selfish urge to kidnap the mainstream version of Debbie, showcasing a character torn between enduring familial affection and self-serving desires—a unique mix of villainy intertwined with a surprising, albeit flawed, sense of humanity.

Biography[]

Comics[]

In his universe, his father demolished their childhood home, preventing Invincible from killing him. Eventually, he was recruited by Angstrom Levy alongside other variants of himself to attack Angstrom's home universe. During the Invincible War, Maskvincible faced off against Oliver Grayson on the very first day, with Oliver believing he could triumph over the villain. Maskvincible warned Oliver that if he kept repeating that notion, he might start to believe it himself, and that he needed to earn the Omni-Man emblem on his chest.

After their battle, Oliver managed to escape to his home, while Maskvincible wreaked havoc in Sydney by the third day. He later joined the other seven surviving Evil Invincibles above his childhood house, expressing his joy at seeing it again. However, they were soon trapped in an alternate dimension by Angstrom Levy.

While most of the variants seen being eaten by Sinister, Viltrum and Mohawk when Invincible was accidentally transported to this Wasteland Universe, Maskvincible was the only one not to be seen devoured his doppelgängers, this could mean he may have been the only one to escape the wasteland Earth and the abyss of outer space, leaving his fate unknown.

TV Series[]

Mask's mother, Debbie, had passed away at some point, which likely contributed to his transformation into a supervillain. Maskvincible was one of the evil versions of Invincible recruited by Angstrom Levy to unleash chaos and devastation in the mainstream dimension, igniting the catastrophic event known as the "Invincible War." Unlike many other variants who sought power and dominion over multiple worlds, Mask's primary objective was to locate Debbie Grayson in this universe and bring her back to his own.

Invincible War[]

Maskvincible entered the mainstream universe through Angstrom's portal, joining the other variants, and immediately began wreaking havoc. The Invincible War raged for three days, and as the conflict neared its conclusion, Maskvincible and the remaining variants were called to meet Angstrom Levy at the Grayson residence.

They continued to soar above the house, stirring fond memories for Maskvincible. He and the other variants reunited with Angstrom, who insisted they locate the mainstream Invincible. However, many of them resisted his commands, insisting that Angstrom fulfill his part of their agreement. While most of the Invincible variants were eager to conquer other worlds throughout the multiverse, Maskvincible voiced his true ambition: to find the variant of his mother in the mainstream reality and bring her back. This declaration was met with ridicule from Mohawk Invincible, who mocked him for this ambition. Maskvincible implored his fellow variants, insisting he couldn't be the only one who longed for someone dear, a sentiment that Maskless Invincible surprisingly acknowledged. Despite this, the variants ultimately turned against Angstrom, prompting him to open portals and deploy his drones to force them through. Maskvincible and the other Invincible variants soon found themselves trapped in a barren, desolate universe.

Trivia[]

  • Fans theorize (series version exclusively) that his universe Debbie either killed by Nolan to make a point how worthless human life is, or committed suicide by jump of the bridge while Invincible was at Thraxans planet and leave him to raise Oliver alone. Completely shatter his sanity, making him willing to kidnap another universe Debbie without considering that each Debbie has her owns son(s) to take care too.
  • Maskvincible is one of the few variants that dons a mask that entirely conceals their face. Hood Invincible serves as another example.
  • Maskvincible might be the least evil variant as proved by his goal to bring his mom back. Another possible piece of evidence is in the comics when he actually encouraged Oliver to "earn that symbol on your chest" during their fight (although it's likely he was only taunting and not encouraging him).
  • Due to his body never being shown on the comics panel to be eaten by Sinister Invincible, fans start to make jokes and theories that he's still alive by convincing Sinister Invincible that "He is not real". Basically calling Sinister Invincible a schizophrenic.
  • But noticeably, there are bones scattered throughout the area the other corpses are, taking into account the corpses of Viltrumite Invincible, Stripevincible, Prisoner Invincible, Maskless Invincible and Kneepad Invincible can be seen, mostly intact, subtracting the remaining two living variants, Mohawk Invincible and Sinister Invincible, it's likely these bones are Maskvincible, meaning he was eaten first, being torn apart by the other 7 variants, them being fueled with desperation, would've picked him clean.
