Fumiko Mifune is a supporting antagonist in the 2018 manga series Chainsaw Man, being a major antagonist of Part 2: The Academy Saga.
Introduced during the Chainsaw Man Church Arc, she is a Public Safety Devil Hunter who is tasked with becoming the bodyguard of the eponymous character Denji.
Personality[]

The best way to describe Fumiko is that she is chaotic and perverted. She touches Denji's crotch, offers sexual intercourse with him, and subjects him to doing more degrading things for her own amusement. What makes it more despicable is that she's a 22-years old woman.
Despite claiming to be a "Denji fan," she cares very little for him and his safety and is ecstatic with adding his hair or nails to her fan collection. She even chooses to sing a karaoke song while Denji was being jumped by a mob.
Fumiko also shows symptoms of psychopathy with her lack of sympathy for others. When Nayuta tries to beg her to help her, reminding Fumiko about how her family were killed, Fumiko derides her for valuing the pets as "family." and doesn't care if children and babies all killed for the Aging Devil. Fumiko has very little allegiance to anything that doesn't prioritize her own life first, while she feigned loyalty to Public Safety and humanity's future going so far as to let Aging Devil take her organs to regenerate, she betrays the Primal Fear Devil after it appears to be on the losing side of its battle.

Background[]
According to Fumiko's own words, she lived with her parents before they became one of the many casualties as a result of Denji's fight with the Gun Fiend. However, rather than being angry that Chainsaw Man failed to save her parents, she instead sympathized with Denji understanding that he was just a young man thrust into this battle. Given how she freely abandons Denji and Nayuta later when the going gets rough and her showing keen interest in collecting Denji's hair or nails before he went under the knife, her backstory is likely fake.
Chainsaw Man Church Arc[]
Fumiko first appears in Chapter 136 when Hirofumi Yoshida sets Denji up on a "date" with her. Upon meeting Denji, she grabs him by the crotch and later makes him do other increasingly lewd acts such as licking a slain demon for no other reason than it made her laugh. In addition to this, Fumiko would admit to spying on him whenever Denji was alone in the bathroom.
Yoshida appoints her as Denji's bodyguard, but she is grossly incompetent in that role and only escalates tension when several civilians were manifesting chainsaws after making deals with the Fire Devil. When Barem Bridge directs the mob towards Nayuta, Fumiko sinks to her lowest and betrays Nayuta and Denji to save her own skin by running off, but not before also mocking Nayuta over the (presumed) deaths of the pets despite claiming that she sympathized with Denji.
Aging Devil Arc[]
She reappears in Chapter 155 in which, upon learning that the Japanese government was going to dissect Denji after he violated the rules by turning into Chainsaw Man. She eagerly asks Yoshida if she could have some of Denji's hair making it clear she was a Chainsaw Man "collector."
In Chapter 174, she is seen in a meeting with the Japanese Ministry regarding the current circumstances of Chainsaw Man and their Devil Hunters. Fumiko informs them that the Public Safety has an amicable relationship with the Aging Devil, describing its powers and stating that it has no attachment for life, offering its willingness to be eaten and killed by Chainsaw Man. In response to this offer, Fumiko informs them that the Aging Devil, in return, demands a sacrifice of over 10,000 children with Japanese citizenship between infancy and 9-years-old. Shocking them, Fumiko reiterates that to assume control over the Chainsaw Man, the process has to be dealt with accordingly until Tadashi Hasegawa, former minister of finance, comes to conclude the decision at hand. When she phoned a contact, Fumiko and the ministry ends up losing their mouths before she can alert a contact that they agreed to beginning the sacrifices.
Eventually their mouths return after the mouth devil is forced out of Pochita, and as he approaches to confront the public safety members Aging gets Fumiko and the agents to make a contract to have charge over their bodies. After agreeing Fumiko's nails are taken, and later her liver. As she writes in pain as the battle between Pochita and Aging continues with Yoshida aiding the former, Aging decides to take Fumiko's large intestine to regenerate, but to his surprise a second healthy Fumiko appears. The second Fumiko reveals that she made a promise to herself that in her dying moments she would side with the likelier winner, leaving the choice to her dying counterpart. The dying Fumiko sides with Yoshida and agrees to give her his heart in order to trap Aging, while the second Fumiko draws a knife toward one of the witnesses to this ploy. An agreement is reached between Aging Devil and Yoshida, and he agrees to send him, Asa, and Denji back to earth, afterward Fumiko, Yoshida, Denji, Asa, and "Fami" decide to get something to eat.
Current Arc[]
On June 1999 the five converse at a restaurant, Yoshida attempts to get Yoru to turn Denji into a weapon to prevent the Nostradamus prophecy, offering him a gun to kill both Fumiko and himself if he agrees. While terrified of being shot Fumiko calms down realizing the gun was empty though both Yoru and Denji escape from them into the streets. Later, Fumiko and Yoshida speak with "Fami" about the Death Devil's arrival within a month asking her to help them with a list of requests given public safety's current state. "Fami" rejects this request and tells them she has to attend committee work her school's festival, Fumiko gets irritated by this and asks that she helps them as humanity's continued existence is at stake. After refusing again, Fumiko is outraged and tells her that if the Death Devil descends on earth "Fami's" friends will be killed as a result, though "Fami" is carried off by the same friends after telling Fumiko and Yoshida they are not fun to be around compared to Denji and Asa/Yoru. While Fumiko asks Yoshida if they should stop her, he grows depressed making her frustrated.

- Curiously, after Pochita's consumption of the Mouth Devil in Chapter 174 resulted in the erasure of the concept of mouths, Fumiko is shown to be the only one sweating on panel, presumably hinting at her being more than just an average Public Safety agent.
- This is further supported by the second Fumiko that appears before the dying one, that even blindsides and surprises a primal fear Devil.
