Villain Overview

HEY, BON-BON! GO G-GET 'EM!
~ Funtime Freddy's most famous quote.
noicon
Together aga-ain!
~ Molten Freddy after killing the player.

Funtime Freddy is a major antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.

He is a homicidal animatronic created by William Afton with purpose to isolate, kidnap and murder children. Alongside the other Funtime Animatronics, including his hand puppet Bon-Bon, he plots to unite and merge together to become the hybrid Ennard so they could escape the facility they're trapped in.

Once their plan succeeds, Funtime Freddy would kick Circus Baby out of Ennard's body for her controlling nature and take charge. Ennard, now Molten Freddy, would then lurk the streets as a "happy family" of animatronic minds intent on killing any nearby humans. He is eventually lured into Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place by Henry Emily, and attempts to kill his former host Michael Afton there.

He is voiced by Kellen Goff, who also voiced Fredbear, Daycare Attendant, and Foxy in the same series, Kai Chisaki in My Hero Academia, Fiddlesticks in League of Legends, Hans in Konosuba, Diavolo in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Rekka Hoshimiya in Fire Force, Zagred in Black Clover, the Father Spider Demon in Demon Slayer, and Techno Pirate in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, Bezel from Chikn Nuggit, Sylva in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Vincent Patilio in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Fat Thief in Spooky Month.

Biography[]

In the lore[]

Sometime after the closure of the 1983-1985 Freddy F.azbear’s Pizzeria, William Afton created a pizzeria titled Circus Baby's Pizza World. One of the animatronics there was Funtime Freddy, with Bon-Bon serving as his literal right hand. However, he, like every other animatronic in the location, was made to kill children, so William Afton could test and study his remnant. Before opening day, Elizabeth Afton, William's daughter, was killed by Circus Baby, resulting in the restaurant closing with the "excuse" of gas leaks. William then put the animatronics in an underground banker under his house. The animatronics, presumambly having MCI's Remnant after the Follow Me minigame seen in Five Nights at Freddy's 3, that is Implied by Henry in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator (Insanity Ending), making them developed consciousness and tried to escape the underground bunker many times, but failed.

Years later, William's son, Michael Afton, is sent by William to the location. On his second night, he encounters Funtime Freddy and Bon-Bon. Michael uses Bon-Bon to lure Funtime Freddy onto his stage. Ultimately, Michael survives, and returns home. On Night 3, Michael has to repair Funtime Freddy. After opening the faceplates and the chestplates, Bon-Bon starts moving and, while shy, wants to kill Michael, only to be deactivated.

Eventually, he is scooped in the Scooping Room, and fuses with the other Funtimes to create Ennard. Michael sees his remains in the Scooping Room. Ennard, with Baby in control, scoops Michael, and replaces his organs, finally escaping the underground location. Although the disguise was working at first, the corpse started to rot. After a week, Ennard escaped Michael's body. However, Michael was injected with Remnant, allowing him to survive.

At an unknown point of time, Funtime Freddy, Bon-Bon, Ballora, and Funtime Foxy, and got into an argument with Baby, due to the fact that she was bossing everyone around. Ultimately, it ends with the Funtimes throwing Baby out of Ennard. Funtime Freddy takes control of the body, gets the body a Freddy mask made of molten metal, and becomes Molten Freddy. At an unknown point of time, Molten Freddy is called into Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place. There, he is salvaged by Michael, who is now a rotten undead corpse. Every day, he meets new animatronics - at first it was Scraptrap, who was William Afton after the fire in Fazbear's Fright, then Scrap Baby, who was Baby that repaired herself after being kicked out of Ennard's body. Finally, there was Lefty, a mysterious black bear. On Saturday, Scrap Baby is about to kill Michael, but is stopped by Henry Emily, William's old business partner.

Henry reveals that it was all a trap made to lure every single animatronic that is still alive. With this, he sets the location on fire. He reveals that Lefty captured the Puppet, who is possessed by Henry's daughter. Henry deems William to Hell, and says his last goodbye to his daughter, as the pizzeria is slowly burning down. Molten Freddy is presumably killed once and for all, ending the homicidal animatronic, and freeing the many souls he had contained within his body.

Several years later, Fazbear Entertainment, the company behind Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, made a VR game based on the rumors about the locations from decades ago. In one of the levels, there are versions of Funtime Freddy and Bon-Bon. Due to the fact that they are literally video-game characters, they aren't the real robots, and aren't in any way possessed.

In the mainline games[]

Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location[]

Funtime Freddy is active only during Night 2 at the Breaker Room. The main objective of this night is to turn on the power in the breaker room, where Freddy is being kept. If the player does not periodically close the screen to check on Funtime Freddy, he will jumpscare them, resulting in a game over.

On Night 3, in Parts/Service, the player is sent to repair Funtime Freddy. They first open the faceplates, then the chestplates. Then, finally, the player must click Bon-Bon's button to reboot it as well, but Bon-Bon will make an attempt to hide from the player. If the player fails to find Bon-Bon, then he will jumpscare them, ending the game.

On Night 5, the "corpses" of the duo are seen in the Scooping Room, as they became a part of Ennard.

Custom Night[]

Funtime Freddy and Bon-Bon return as a singular character in the non-canon Custom Night DLC for Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location. If one plays a preset where Freddy is active, he will attempt to kill the player resulting in a game over. To prevent said game over, the player must watch the camera to observe Funtime Freddy. Freddy will approach from either the right or left side. If Funtime Freddy commands Bon-Bon to attack, the player must close the door correlating with Freddy's location. However, if he announces a surprise, the player must close the door opposite of the side he is positioned. Regardless of his proclamation, failure to defend accordingly will result in Bon-Bon jumpscaring and killing the player. Bon-Bon has a female counterpart introduced in the custom night named Bonnet.

Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator[]

Following the events of Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location, in which Ennard had inhabited the corpse of Michael Afton to escape Circus Baby's Entertainment & Rental, Michael's corpse had decomposed significantly, forcing Ennard to evacuate it and escape into the sewers. During this period of time, the other Funtime Animatronics had gotten frustrated with Circus Baby, the amalgamation's controller, bossing them around. Eventually, her parts were removed from Ennard's remains by Funtime Freddy, whose consciousness then took control over the remaining four and upon forming together, became Molten Freddy; a moving mass of robotic parts and wires with Funtime Freddy's personality and voice.

Molten Freddy continued to lurk the streets for a few years, until he ended up in the back alley of the newly opened Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, trying to get inside and fulfill its intended purpose. Michael Afton, who had survived his death after being injected with a substance called Remnant, worked as the pizzeria's manager and collected Freddy on his first day on the job, running salvage tests on him before storing him in the pizzeria, later along with Baby, Scraptrap and Lefty. Due to his homicidal programming, Freddy lurked throughout the pizzeria's vents in search of child customers to kill, even attempting to kill Michael, but to no avail.

On Michael's last day on the job, the pizzeria's creator, Henry Emily, set it on fire, killing himself, Michael, Baby, Lefty, and the amalgamation, presumably setting free the souls of the missing children in the process.

Ultimate Custom Night[]

Molten Freddy appears as a selectable antagonist of Ultimate Custom Night. Here he climbs through the ventilation system at a quicker pace to other vent based animatronics, and the player has to close the vent opening before he gets though. If not, Molten Freddy jumpscares the player, and laughs during the game over screen.

A seemingly deactived Bon-Bon makes a cameo as a decoration on the desk of the Sister Location themed office, while Funtime Freddy's head is hanging on the monitor in the said office.

Legacy[]

In Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach's Burntrap Ending, an animatronic amalgamation bearing a Funtime Freddy mask appears, but it's relation to Molten Freddy is currently unclear.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted[]

Funtime Freddy and Bon-Bon reappear in their own level based on FNaF 4. The player must prevent both animatronics from entering the bedroom while also watching out for Bonnet. The animatronics outside the bedroom can be repelled by flashing a light on them down the hallways or listening if they are at the door. While Bon-Bon and Bonnet's jumpscares are only distractions, getting one from Funtime Freddy results in a game over.

Funtime Freddy is also a threat during Funtime Foxy's level in Nightmare Mode. He is one of a few animatronics wandering in the darkness and will jumpscare the player if he gets too close to them.

Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery[]

Funtime Freddy and Bon-Bon both returned by massive hype demand, working as a team in their CPU.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2[]

Funtime Freddy and Bon-Bon reappear in a recreation of the Breaker Room level from Sister Location. The strategy is nearly identical to that of Sister Location's minigame. However, the camera mechanic is removed and changed to levers, which the player must pull while multitasking and monitoring Funtime Freddy, who can hide throughout many locations.

Yenndo replaces Funtime Freddy in Breaker Room's Hard Mode.

Novel Series[]

FNAF Trilogy[]

Main article: Funtime Freddy (Novel Trilogy)

Funtime Freddy without Bon-Bon appears in the novel trilogy as one of William Afton's animatronics.

Fazbear Frights[]

Main article: Funtime Freddy (Fazbear Frights)

Funtime Freddy serves as the main antagonist of the Fazbear Frights story Count the Ways, and a minor antagonist of Room for One More.

Appearance[]

Funtime Freddy[]

Funtime Freddy's design is a combination of Withered Freddy and Toy Freddy from Five Nights at Freddy's 2. He posses five fingers on his left hand and holds a microphone with a purple handle. Like Funtime Foxy, he has a circular speaker located under his bowtie. His suit is colored white and purple, unlike most counterparts of Freddy. His face consists of plates which move around, and when threatening his prey, he pulls them back to reveal his internal structures. His hat can be raised off the top of his head via a pole inside his head.

As Molten Freddy[]

In this form, Freddy is a large, molten, tangle of the various wire endoskeletons and warped metal of the Funtime Animatronics, particularly Funtime Freddy, Bon-Bon, Ballora, and Funtime Foxy, with the eyes of the animatronics poking out from the amalgamation's body. Funtime Freddy helms the form, meaning that he wears a shattered bear-shaped mask with a brown muzzle, a jaw with sharp teeth, and a single orange eye, as well as a brown top hat and a red bow tie. Molten Freddy also seems to be constantly dripping with a molten red substance, most likely remnant. There are hanging wires that run along the body and are shaped differently from the other animatronics, which possesses wires coiled to look like muscle tissue, while Ennard's wires are a tangled mess. He seems to have two arms, and a torso in his jumpscare, with the rest of him being a pile of wires as seen in the alley. Several eyes from its body are eyes of the other animatronics. The eyes on Molten Freddy's body are similar to the pixelated version of Ennard, in which Michael regurgitates Ennard into the sewer.

  • A yellowish-orange eye belongs to Funtime Foxy.
  • A magenta eye belongs to Bon-Bon.
  • A sapphire blue eye belongs to himself.
  • A purple eye belongs to Ballora.

Personality[]

As Funtime Freddy

Funtime Freddy is rambunctious, exuberant, playful, deranged, and highly strung. He sounds and talks like a lively children's entertainer, like a very camp, effeminate clown. He is prone to laughing and stuttering. However, this may be because his AI isn't as sentient as the ones of Circus Baby and Ballora, making him think there are children around him and acted like that to lure them to their death. He had a notably angrier tone of voice during the custom night.

As Molten Freddy

Due to Funtime Freddy's consciousness being in control of Molten Freddy, he retains much of his personality. However, he has become far more unhinged after Sister Location, glitching as he speaks and sadistically mentioning the topics of family and parties. Although he is initially docile towards Michael in his salvage (at least if he is shocked enough), he eventually becomes hostile to him, hunting him down in the vents of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place.

Trivia[]

  • Funtime Freddy is the icon of Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location, the fifth main installment of the franchise.
  • Funtime Freddy and Bon-Bon seem to be based on Rolfe DeWolfe and Earl Schmerle from Showbiz Pizza Place.
  • Funtime Freddy sounds rather like Mark Hamill's portrayal of the Joker, albeit in a much more lispy and high-pitched, almost campy tone.
  • Funtime Freddy and Molten Freddy's voice actor Kellen Goff has stated that Ennard is his favorite animatronic, which is ironic as Molten Freddy is made up of Ennard's remains.
  • It's been theorized that Funtime Freddy is the animatronic the MCI Victims possesses.
    • As the Fazbear Fright's books and The Fourth Closet implies that the reason why William went to the abandoned Pizzeria as shown in the FNaF 3's mini games was to retrieve the endoskeletons and remnants from the original animatronics from the first game for the creation of the Funtime Animatronics.
    • In Five Nights At Freddy's 4, there is minigame scene featuring laughing boy whom make fun and give some advice suggestion towards crying child protagonist. Its often theorized that the laughing boy could be the one who possessed Funtime Freddy.
  • There is a theory which states that the power module the player has to remove from Funtime Freddy in Night 3 is actually one of the special sound disks created by Henry Emily, later used by William Afton in the novel series. These disks emit a type of sound frequency which causes the brain to hallucinate, making people see things as they think of them. In the novels children who loved the animatronics would see them as friendly characters, while Charlie and her friends (who viewed them in a more negative light thanks to having been attacked by them once) saw them as twisted monstrosities like Twisted Freddy (It’s should be noted that Twisted Freddy’s original form is a silver version of Funtime Freddy without Bon-Bon). These disks have never been brought up properly in the games however, making it unlikely they exist in actual game timelines.
  • In Funtime Freddy's Night Terror level, just like the Nightmare animatronics, he can be heard breathing, despite being an actual animatronic and not a nightmare.
  • As his original version, Funtime Freddy and his partner Bon-Bon are the only major animatronics in Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location who are absent in Ultimate Custom Night as customizable characters.
  • The events of Ennard's division into Molten Freddy and Scrap Baby was depicted in the source code between both the ScottGames and FNAF World websites prior to Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator's release, as shown above in the quote section.
  • Although Molten Freddy's mask bears some resemblance to Funtime Freddy's, several things are different which it has no blush, molten brown texture instead of mauve purple, its hat doesn't have a stripe, lighter color on jaw and etc, pointing to it being a different mask.
  • Molten Freddy's eye surprisingly changes color:
    • Yellow for the Rare Death Screen and for it's Custom Night Icon.
    • Orange for Salvage attack.
    • Red for the Office attack.
    • Black for Salvage Neutral.
    • It's possible that it's showing which animatronic has control at given time, tinting towards the eyes of the controlling animatronic:
      • Ballora would be represented by the black neutral eye color, referencing the way she has her eyes almost always closed.
      • Red would be closer to pink, showing Bon-Bon’s pink/magenta eyes.
      • Orange would be showing Funtime Foxy, being closer to her amber eyes.
      • Yellow ends up showing Funtime Freddy, with the implication through Yenndo and The Fourth Closet that Funtime Freddy originally had yellow eyes.
  • It's heavily theorized Molten Freddy contains the Remnant of the original five missing children. Another theory, dubbed MoltenMCI, claims that Molten Freddy is possessed by the souls themselves.
    • If true, it can be assumed that the souls of the missing children used Molten Freddy as their new host, due to their previous animatronic hosts dismantled by William Afton.
    • An easter egg in Help Wanted shows exactly 4 Endo-01 models inside a furnace in Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental this could potentially confirm this (Golden Freddy lacks a proper endoskeleton and wasn't dismantled in the Follow Me minigames).
    • The Candy Cadet's Five Orphans story tells about a man who took care of five orphans who were killed in his absence. The man couldn't afford five coffins, so he stitched the five bodies to fit into just one coffin. The story ends with the phrase "that night, there was a knock on the door." Molten Freddy seems to directly reference this story by saying "Knock knock! I'm here!" in one of his death quotes.
    • An alternative theory states that only Gabriel, Susie, Fritz, and Jeremy are in Molten Freddy, with Cassidy's spirit haunting Springtrap.
    • This would line up with only four entities being inside Molten Freddy: with those being Ballora, Bon-Bon, Funtime Foxy, and Funtime Freddy respectively.
    • However, others theorize that perhaps Yenndo became a part of Molten Freddy, but there is no official confirmation.
  • Due to the mask worn by Molten Freddy having a completely different colour pallette from the Funtime Freddy mask, many theorized that the cover mask worn by Molten Freddy might have originated from Yenndo.
