The Furies are the main antagonists of the 2013 action-adventure hack and slash game God of War: Ascension. They are three sisters who are sent to kill Kratos for betraying Ares.

Appearance[]

There are three Furies that are going to appear in God of War: Ascension, but so far, only one of they has been revealed.

Megaera[]

The first Fury; Megaera, is dressed like an amazon and having Roman Helmet with a plume like a mohawk. She has spider-legs sprouting from the middle of her back and are several times larger then herself.

Tisiphone[]

Besides glowing eyes, appears the most human of the sisters. She has the greatest mastery of illusion.

Alecto[]

Consort of Ares and mother of Orkos

History[]

The Furies were created from the madness and rage of a war of the Pirmordials, that was waged before the Titans. The Furies were tasked to punish the wicked. There are three Furies, that are sisters, and they are sent to kill Kratos for betraying Ares.

???

Trivia[]

  • The Furies are based on the Erinyes, the goddesses of vengeance who shared the same name in Greek mythology.
  • The Furies are sisters towards Aphrodite.
  • While Alecto is the birth mother of Orkos, all three sisters consider him their son, and he considers them all as "mother." Although, these labels aren't affectionate, rather matter-of-fact.
  • Each of the Furies has a mystical creature association.
    • Megaera - from pores in her chest, she spawns numerous parasitic arthropods, which infest dead and living bodies, mutating them into insectoid warriors. The parasites can infest a body as small as a human or large as the Hecatonchries (albeit only segments, e.g. hands, arms, and head).
    • Tisiphone - she is accompanied by a phoenix-like creature known as Daimon, which can blow fire and also seems to have superstrength.
    • Alecto - transforms into a Kraken-like monster. The adhesive black ink she projects, even in human form, reinforces the cephalopod connection.
  • Ironically, their plot with Ares to overthrow Olympus was prevented by Kratos, only for him to later undertake it himself (albeit, their motives were conquest, whereas his was simply revenge).
