“ | I have to tell you, Scourge was fierce, but our new leader, Fury—she's more bloodthirsty than Scourge ever was! And she's dead set on getting revenge on the Clans. | „ |
~ Gremlin about Fury |
Fury is the main antagonist of the super edition Graystripe's Vow from Erin Hunter's Warriors book series.
She is the leader of BloodClan and the successor of Scourge, following his death. After the former's defeat during the battle against the LionClan, Fury killed her Clan's initial leader, Claw, usurping her position as a leader of BloodClan and swearing to take over the forest territory per what was initially promised to them by Tigerstar.
Biography[]
At some point after the demise of BloodClan's original leader, Scourge, Fury became a companion to one of their new leaders, Claw. She went with him into a human town to search for food, and only she returned. Fury claimed that Claw was killed by a dog, but one of the BloodClan cats, Gremlin, doubted that was the whole truth, implying Fury killed him instead. Fury then assued leadership of BloodClan and was determined to exact revenge on the Warrior Clans for defeating them.
Fury sends Snake and a pregnant Gremlin to spy on ThunderClan, and the two come back with news that excites Fury, as Firestar and Sandstorm have left their Clan. Deciding that the time is right to exact revenge, Fury leads her Clan into the forest.
Fury and her warriors steal prey from ThunderClan territory and later ambush a patrol led by Graystripe. She surprises them by revealing that she knows of Firestar's departure and tells them that BloodClan wants the forest still. Fury and her cats then charge into battle, the one-eyed she-cat trading blows with Graystripe before rolling away. Amidst the fighting, Fury shouts at Gremlin to not hold back with her attacks just because she is pregnant. After Graystripe is subdued, Fury orders her patrol to throw him to a dog in the Twolegplace.
Unbeknownst to Fury, Graystripe escapes and later meets with Gremlin, who agrees to spy on her leader in return for a place in ThunderClan.
Two days later, Fury leads BloodClan to attack ThunderClan's camp. During the battle, the tabby leader jumps on top of Highrock and spots Gremlin abandoning BloodClan. Enraged, Fury calls her a traitor, and sends Snake and Ice after her. She watches as the two black-and-white toms grab the pregnant cat and pin her down, much to Scrap's dismay. The tortoiseshell tom speaks up, defending his sister, but Fury labels him a traitor too. At her command, Snake and Ice attack Scraps and Gremlin, but only kill Scraps in the struggle. Fury challenges Graystripe to kill Snake, stating that if he does, that Gremlin will die as well.
Graystripe lets go of the tom and then also challenges Fury, questioning her regard for BloodClan. The tabby leader makes it clear she cares only about her own well-being and survival in the fight. The gray deputy points out a wound to her side, earning a snarl of defiance from Fury who remains firm in her strength. However, her strength falters as she begins to feel the effects of blood loss. Graystripe, with the help of Cinderpelt, manages to talk Fury into surrendering as she has to ask for treatment for her wound. Fury receives treatment from the ThunderClan medicine cat, but loses the remnants of BloodClan as they desert her. As she goes to leave camp, Graystripe reminds her of her promise. Fury tells him that she does and that she'll leave the territory, and possibly the forest altogether.
Appearance[]
Fury is a long-furred tabby she-cat with one eye and numerous scars across her muzzle and shoulders. Her coat or eye color is never revealed.
Personality[]
Fury is a ruthless and bloodthirsty cat with a hunger for power and vengeance. She is believed to be even worse than BloodClan's original leader, Scourge. Her main ambition is to take what she believes is rightfully hers. This goal has made her a firm believer of the idea that a new home was promised to BloodClan and that this promise extends past the death of their former leader.
Fury is perfectly willing to manipulate, maim or murder the cats around her to achieve her goals. Just like many BloodClan cats, she is an upholder of their loose code and firmly believes punishment is what traitors deserve.
Although Fury initially claims that her goal is to ensure her Clan has a home, in truth, she cares only for herself and doesn't care how many of her followers die in battle. She is arrogant and believes herself more than capable of many things, especially her goal. Even when placed in a difficult situation, it takes an amount of inner turmoil and putting aside her pride for Fury to admit defeat.
