| “ | That was just the excuse I used. There was no noble reason. My life was just boring and empty. Being treated like some popular flame-war influencer... In the end, I just enjoyed seeing people suffer. To satisfy my own pleasure, I called it justice, called it reform. And as a result, I drove someone to death. I killed someone. No doubt about it. | „ |
| ~ Fuuta admitting his remorse to Es. |
Fuuta Kajiyama is one of ten secondary protagonists of MILGRAM. An online personality, he harassed people he thought were doing wrong, until targeting his neighbor, a middle-school girl, until she ended up killing herself.
He is voiced by Arthur Lounsbery.
Biography[]
Past[]
Fuuta was born in 1999 in Osaka City. Upon becoming a student at university, he grew bored, spending his time looking at controversies on social media. After getting a restaurant to make a public apology after exposing a member of their staff for an inappropriate post, and he became obsessed with dishing out vigilante justice online, the echo chamber he soon created convincing him such was just. One day, he found a post of a middle-school girl wearing an expensive hat she hadn't purchased yet, and decided that, while a small and insignificant action, could go viral due to her looks, in spite of her being a middle schooler - and he was correct, as after accusing her of infringing on the store's copyright, a few commenters noted they wanted to know where she lived because of how cute she was. Fuuta soon discovered she was his neighbor, and began taking photos of her house and posting them online, prompting further harassment of the girl. The girl eventually wound up killing herself, to which Fuuta discovered when witnessing the funeral while walking past the house. Suddenly filled with guilt, he never intended for things to go this far. Sometime afterwards, for this, he arrived at Milgram Prison.
Trial 1[]
Angrily attempting to attack Es during his first voice drama, "Braze You!!", he soon discovers he is physically incapable due to the properties of Milgram, angrily calling it a violation of human rights. He attempts to argue he's not actually a murderer, he tries to ask Es what their motive for all this is, and Es evades the question. He said he was nervous because Yuno, as requested by Es, claimed to have experienced plenty of violence during the process, and angrily notes he'll sue Milgram when he's gotten out of there. In his first song, "Bring It On", he reveals his harassments of several people, ultimately ending with the middle-school girl. He was voted Guilty with a 55.10% majority.
Trial 2[]
Attacked by Kotoko Yuzuriha after getting his verdict, he ended up losing one of his eyes, although Kazui protected him from further damage, and Shidou helped with the medical aspects. In his second voice drama, "Baptism of Fire", he's furious with Es, thinking they wanted Kotoko to attack the prisoners. Even when they try to defend themself, he confronts them on how voting her Innocent ultimately affirmed her toxic beliefs. He still attempts to defend himself, noting others also harassed her and it wasn't all his fault, but soon breaks down, desperately apologizing, revealing how painful what happened to him was and how scared he is. He angrily threatens to kill Es if he isn't forgiven before his song, "Backdraft", begins, in which he reveals more of his pain and misery. He was voted Innocent with a 76.82% majority.
Trial 3[]
Fuuta ended up joining the religion of Amane Momose in an attempt to recover from the trauma and stress of the previous trial, and a way of coping with the pain, even though he admits the religion is full of childish morals. He aided her in killing Shidou and, in turn, Mahiru, no matter how badly he felt about doing such. He admits during the voice drama, "The Second Coming", that he doesn't care if he's forgiven or not anymore, because all he can do now is attempt to repent, and begs Es to save Amane and forgive her. In his song, "The Appare March", he shows his crime in the evilest light possible in hopes of laying all his sins bare. His verdict is still currently pending.
