Fuwatty (フワッティー Fuwattī), localized as Blockman is the secondary antagonist of the Ao Oni franchise. It is one of the many man-eating Demons who live in an abandoned Mansion on the Outskirts of Town.

Biography[]

Ao Oni[]

In the study room in the ruins in version 6.23, after the portrait falls, getting too close to the safe results in a Fuwatty coming out from behind one the bookshelves, then starting chase. The chase is not only longer than all previous chases in the game, but Fuwatty is given the ability to dash in a straight line with a massive boost; every 8 steps, it halts for a second, then dashes for 6 tiles in the direction of the player.

In the Blueberry Farm, a Fuwatty can be seen again, moving erradically across the room. When the jail cell door is opened, Fuwatty follows behind Hunchback Oni, before vanishing alongside all other Ao Onis in the room when the chase comes to a close.

The game features a Bonus Element by the password of BLOCKMAN, which results in all random chases being taken over by Fuwatty, as well as the time between chases being drastically reduced, resulting in a harder mode.

On Ao Oni's 2016 version. In Comical Mode, Fuwatty first appears after taking the attic key in the library, dashing into walls as it tries to leave the room, working as an announcement towards the appearance of the monsters in the first floors. It can then be found as a NPC on the secret area to the right of the japanese-style room, racing alongside Slug Oni and Blue Shrimp, easily outrunning both. During the final chase, interacting with it will cause it to send Hiroshi flying back to the japanese-style room.

In Hackadoll Mode, Fuwatty appears as a cameo, being depicted on Ao Oni's censoring after turning bald.

Ao Oni 2[]

Fuwatty has a 3-star mask that is carried over to future games.

Fuwatty appears as part of the Main Story's Blueberry Farm and its related chase. From the second building up until the rooftop, Fuwatty can appear as a random chaser, being able to dash as usual. Fuwatty is one of the Ao Onis featured in an altar graphic that is both used in the main story and some scenarios like Takuro's scenario. In the Principal's scenario, Fuwatty appears in that scenario's Blueberry Farm and subsequent chase.

Ao Oni 3[]

On the main story, Fuwatty appears in Takuro's section in the old temple, acting as the random chaser for the area.

On Tetsuya's scenario Fuwatty is part of the altar death trap if the player puts the red stone instead of the blue stone. Fuwatty later appears as part of the boss battle at the end, entering the room once the 3rd button is pressed, acting identical to the Ao Oni in the same boss battle, meaning it moves slow and can press buttons, but keeps its dash ability.

Ao Oni Online[]

Fuwatty appears as a mask in the game. Its mask is broken though.

Novels[]

Fuwatty is one of the many monsters created by the Ao Oni at the end of the novel, coming from its chest. It is described as a "cuboid entity" and participates in the final chase, since then Fuwatty is only a background character as for example his appareance on the blueberry farm on Ao Oni: Mutation, he is sometimes mistaken by "Fwuffy", a Fuwatty variant that acts as Mika's Doppelganger's pet.

Ao Oni 2.0 (Film)[]

Shortly before its appearance, Fuwatty is foreshadowed as the characters mention an "upgrade version" of the monster. Fuwatty appears in a deeper part of the basement, and immediately tries to run at Hiroshi and Takuro, however, it is too slow, allowing them to easily step aside as the Fuwatty slams itself against the wall. Takuro brings into question whenever this is the upgraded version, but Hiroshi is sure the difficulty will rise.

Up the catwalk, the two of them find another Fuwatty, and quickly realize there are multiple of them. The Fuwatty dashes forward, and while easily avoiding it, a liquid noise is heard, they, turn around to reveal the Fuwatty had combined with another Fuwatty, becoming of larger size. After dodging its attack, they head back down, only to stumble upon another Fuwatty, followed by the larger Fuwatty dropping down from the catwalk.

The smaller Fuwatty runs into the big one, creating a massive Fuwatty, who soon attacks Takuro, who narrowly dodges its lunge. Hiroshi and Takuro quickly devise a plan as the Fuwatty gets itself back up, using Takuro as bait, Fuwatty dashes at him, only to be crushed by Hiroshi dropping a stone concrete on it.
