Gateau du Rowa

Gâteau du Roi, often shortened to just Gâteau, is the main antagonist of the Japanese-only Playstation videogame adaption of Mew Mew Power (also known as Tokyo Mew Mew in Japan).

History[]

Gâteau ordered Dren to kidnap Ringo Akai in an attempt to distract the other Mew Mews from his real plan, which was to turn all the Red Data animals on the nature preserve island Ringo lives on into Predasites. However, in the end, Gâteau was moved by the Mew Mews' support for each other and decided he did not want to be evil anymore. He died with the last Predasite that he created.

Powers and Abilities[]

Gâteau has the ability to teleport to different places and create Predasites. His plan in the game was to turn the animals on the nature reserve island into Predasites.

Appearance and Personality[]

Gâteau has long green hair, the same colour as Dren's. His fringe is long and the back of his hair is plaited and held together with a large purple ribbon. He has golden eyes, which are also the same colour as Dren's, and he wears small square glasses. His skin is light and he has the same large pointed ears as the other aliens. Gateau wears brown gloves up to his elbows and his outfit is purple.

Gâteau is described as being aristocratic and intelligent. He is almost exactly as loyal to Deep Blue as Sardon, and is the most sophisticated out of all the aliens, always trying to tell Dren to be more "elegant". However, he lets Dren do whatever he wants despite the fact that he is supposed to be serving Gâteau himself. He doesn't seem to enjoy working with Dren.

Gâteau's appearance resembles Raphael Sorel from Soul Calibur II and Soul Calibur III, mainly because of the clothes they wear. He also resembles Byakuya Kuchiki from the popular manga and anime series Bleach. His aristocratic mannerisms are also like Byakuya's, and they share the same Japanese voice actor (Ryōtarō Okiayu).

Creation and Reception[]

Gâteau was created by Takara, the Japanese company which developed and published the Mew Mew Power PlayStation game. Mia Ikumi, who designed the original characters of the series, was pleased with how Gâteau turned out.

Trivia[]

  • Gâteau only appeared in the Tokyo Mew Mew PlayStation game, which was titled "Tokyo Mew Mew – Tojo Shin Mew Mew! – Minna Issho ni Gohoshi Suru Nyan" ("東京ミュウミュウ 登場 新ミュウミュウ! みんないっしょにご奉仕するにゃん"). He did not appear in the anime or manga series of Tokyo Mew Mew, though Ringo starred in a mini-manga series named Petite Mew Mew.
  • Gâteau is the only alien who does not appear in the manga or anime.
  • TokyoPop misspelled the first part of his name as "Gato" in volume 5 of the manga.
  • His name, which is French in origin, means "King Cake".
