The GUN Hunters are major antagonists in the 2024 film Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the third main installment of the Sonic Cinematic Universe. They are mass-produced robot models created by the military organization Guardian Units of Nations.

As part of his sentence, Gerald Robotnik designed a powerful laser weapon known as the Eclipse Cannon in exchange for his release. As part of the Eclipse Cannon program, Gerald created a new model of robots known as GUN Hunters, designed to be as defense guardians for the Eclipse Cannon.
After Gerald stole and activated the Eclipse Weapon (with the help from his grandson Ivo and Shadow the Hedgehog), they transported the Cannon to space, where Gerald gets Shadow to power up the Cannon's core with Chaos Energy. Gerald then announces his true plot of using the Cannon to destroy the entire Earth in revenge for the death of his granddaughter Maria.
However, preferring to rule the Earth instead of destroying it, an outraged Ivo turns against Gerald and attempts to stop him, but Gerald leaves him hanging on a deck railing. Even upon seeing Shadow developing a change of heart and teaming up with Sonic, Gerald wastes no time activating the GUN Hunters, ordering them to eliminate both Sonic and Shadow at all costs. Despite their massive numbers and firepower, the GUN Hunters end up being destroyed by Sonic and Shadow, as the hedgehogs utilized the powers of the Chaos Emeralds to boost their abilities. This allows Tails and Knuckles to rescue Ivo and help him kill Gerald. After finishing off the rest of the GUN Hunters to their destruction, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Ivo, and Shadow redirect the Cannon to save the Earth.
