Gabe Romani is a minor antagonist from Stephen King's body-horror novel, Thinner. He is the husband of Gina Lempke and the grandson-in-law of Tadzu Lempke. Gabe works to support Gina by working alongside her as a fellow carnie and helping her with her acts of villainy.
Not much is known about Gabe, other than his affinity for preforming with fire. Gabe appears to have the same morals and motives as his wife Gina, whether that be stealing or murdering someone as revenge for spying on them.
Biography[]
Gabe is one of the first performers seen at the fair, where he was preforming tricks with fire. He was also seen arguing with Duncan Hopley about shutting down the festival. He was again seen when he and his other family members went to fill a prescription at a drug-store. There, he assisted Gina in stealing some product while the pharmacist filled the prescription.
Gabe is seen again after Billy Halleck arrived at their campfire. Gabe stood next to Tadzu and Gina while Billy pleaded with them to remove the curse, but did little to add to the conversation. He was later seen again briefly with Gina confronting a man that Richie Ginelli had hired to spy on them. Offscreen, he and his wife murdered the man and displayed him as a warning sign in the man's car for Billy and Richie to see.
Gabe's final appearance involved being tackled and bound by Richie, whom was furious about what they had done to the man he hired. Richie held Gabe as a hostage while he terrorized their campfire. Richie then put a note on Gabe's body before letting him hop back to the campfire. While Gabe tried to run back to his colleagues, they mistook him for Richie, firing several rounds into his body and killing him. Gina ran over to his body, screaming in anguish. She unraveled the note that Richie had left which read "WHITE MAN FROM TOWN SAYS TAKE IT OFF".
