Gabriel Moreno was the secondary antagonist of the 2002 Mexican telenovela "Entre el amor y el odio" (Spanish for "Between Love and Hatred").
He was portrayed by Luis Roberto Guzmán.
Story[]
At the start of the story, Gabriel is a noble young man. Still, he started fighting in street fights to get money unbeknownst to his family (composed by María Magdalena (mother), Rebecca (aunt), José Alfredo (younger brother), and Rodolfo (father), at starting meets Marcial Andrade, an older friend of Rodolfo who quickly wins Gabriel and José Alfredo's trust with lies and cheatings and Marcial knows about Gabriel's fighting secret.
He was a man who supported and loved his younger brother, José Alfredo and was united as one until a family secret was revealed that María Magdalena and Rodolfo had kept hidden for 20 years. One of their sons is not the son of María Magdalena, who shocked Gabriel and then suspected Rosalía (a mature Cabaret woman who lost their son years ago when he was a baby). Gabriel turns into dark side surges when, in a street fight, he imprudently takes a criminal called "El Tractor," ends with several injuries, and leaves him in a comatose state. The police discovered him, and María Magdalena and Rebecca discovered Gabriel's darkest secret: El Tractor dies. Gabriel goes to jail for hating José Alfredo, who thinks that he is "adopted," and to save him, María Magdalena makes believe Rosalía who José Alfredo is their son and moves him to their house to save him from Gabriel's new hate against him.
Later, who was a free man again becomes more aggressive and rebellious and returns to street fights and changes their life from a simple man to a liar and social guy with Marcial as the only friend who he can trust. After his release, he entered Octavio Villareal's (the main protagonist of the Telenovela) social circle and knows a photographer called Juliana Valencia, who at the time was in love with her and, with lies convinced Juliana that Gabriel was "an extreme sportsman" and their family was a social class and skips their real life for Juliana and their love became too real for him saving him for their demons, and their married without knowledge or consentment or Gabriel and Juliana families. Things were going to bad to worst for Gabriel's real circle due to he approached Fuensanta (José Alfredo's girlfriend) and raped her. Later, she gives birth to a baby girl named María Guadalupe, whom Gabriel is unaware of, and leaves María Magdalena's home to stay with Juliana and her new, fake social world. But their relationship gets turned down when Rebecca goes to search for Gabriel, and this makes her their "employee" when, in reality, the secret of Gabriel's real mother is revealed to be Rebecca (25 or 30s years ago, she had a wrong adventure with Rodolfo and later she was pregnant), then Juliana discovers Gabriel's real life. She rejects him because Gabriel lied to her, and she had promised never to lie between them, as Juliana's father, Rogelio, had a strong disapproval of Juliana's secret wedding. Juliana wanted their father and mother Lucila away for their life, and Lucila (who wished to kill Rogelio to take their fortune) failed herself when Cayetana (Frida's aunt (and main female antagonist) and Rosalía's younger sister) took the poisoned juice and gave to Lucila killing her coming to Miami. After Juliana breaks up, Gabriel tries to commit suicide, and after a street fight, Juliana saves him and reconciliates. Some years later, Juliana and Gabriel's love relationship becomes more "honest" due to Juliana's influence over Gabriel, and they retire from the street fights. Still, Marcial, who needed money, Gabriel returns to street fights with failure, experiencing his first near-death experience and feeling that Marcial betrayed him and wanted change for their evil acts, including with José Alfredo. Still, Juliana discovers that Rebecca is Gabriel's birth mother, and Juliana breaks up with Gabriel again, leaving him alone once more.
However, Gabriel's real Swan Song comes after María Magdalena and Marcial's separation. Gabriel discovers Marcial's tapes and his recorder, which reveal Marcial's darkest secrets and his true persona. Marcial then sends Tobías and El Ratón to destroy the tapes. They corner Fuensanta and María Guadalupe when Tobías and Ratón appear to rape Fuensanta; Gabriel defends her from their attacks. Still, due to Gabriel's injuries from their latest lethal beating, he can't protect himself from their attacks. Later, after a little fight, Gabriel's final success is when Tobías stabs him with a knife sevenfold and dies, but not before telling all that forgive him for their acts, including rape Fuensanta, and Juliana finally forgives him for their lies and finally dies, leaving Juliana pregnant for him.
