Gaetan in minor character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. He is a witcher from the cat school who committed genocide in the village of Honorton.

Biography[]

Past[]

Before he became a cat school witcher, he had a sister, but she died of old age 10 years ago. Gaetan took over various jobs, such as those related to killing or hunting monsters, when he manages to complete a goal, he always delivers trophies to the quest givers and the rewards he gets he takes to the hideout in Velen.

During the journey, he received a letter from Joël, where he informs Gaeten that the witcher cat school was seized by soldiers, where they killed witches from the cat school, such as Axel and Cedric, and issued wanted posters on Joël and him. After this information, Gaeten went into hiding so as not to make himself famous. Some time later, Gaeten ran into debt, so he sold his shaelmaar trophy to Marcus T.K. Hodgson.

Gaetan, wanting to take over some order, chose the order for a leshy who terrorizes the village of Honorton and landed in the forest. When Gaeten came to the village to preach to kill the leshy where he agreed with the Village Mayor Sobemir for a reward then went on a hunt where he managed to kill the leshy thanks to the elixils.

When Gaetan brought the head of the leshy to the village leader, Sobemir received 12 crowns, the village head tried to explain that he had given him little due to poverty and was asking him for understanding. Pissed off, Gaetan refused, threatening them that he wanted a huge payment, to which the mayor replied with horror that there was a huge amount of gold hidden in the barn and they had to be pulled out. They both went to the barn in the company of the villagers, where the money was supposedly hidden, but it turned out that it was a trap set for the witcher, where they tried to stab him in the back. Gaetan managed to avoid being killed by the villagers and in a rage he killed all the villagers except Millie who looked like his sister and then went to the circle to rest.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt[]

When he finds an advertisement in Honorston's village to kill a leshen and when he reaches the village he encounters a herd of Alghouls and kills them after searching the entire village he finds the head of a leshen that Geralt had him kill for the advertisement and found the surviving girl Millie who will tell Geralt what happened in the village.

After hearing Honorton's story from the surviving girl, Geralt decided to follow the cat school witcher by following the traces of blood from his wounds. When Geralt followed the trail, he met a witcher who had slaughtered the entire village of Honorton, and when they met, a witcher from the cat school introduced himself as Gaetan and told him the reason why he did it. He claims that he is used to people treating witchers badly, considering how low they are paid.

Depending on the player's decision, Geralt can kill Gaetan or spare him. If Geralt spares Gaetan, he can talk about his experiences with Blaviken and give him the cat's medallion and in return, Gaetan will give him the key to his vault as a thank you. If Geralt decides to kill Gaetan, Geatan, who has lost the fight, asks him to give him the Swallow to heal him and if we decide to give him the Swallow, Gaetan will blind Geralt, worsening his orientation and even depriving him of the ability to use potions and slowing him down. Despite this, Geralt is able to defeat Gaetan and kill him.

Trivia[]

  • If Gaetan meets Geralt wearing witcher feline armor, he will be a crossbreed because Geralt comes from the school of the wolf.
  • If Geralt kills Gaetan and then comes to his hideout, it will be empty.
  • Gaetan appears in the game only after installing the DLC subtitle Where the Cat and Wolf Play.
  • Gaetan is similar to Brehen in many ways:
    • Both are Witchers of the cat school.
    • Both have names that end with the letter n.
    • Both have met Geralt of Rivia.
    • Both have organized massacres of civilians.
