Gaetano Fadda is one of the two secondary antagonists, alongside Oraetta Mayflower in Fargo. He's the younger brother of Josto Fadda, the next in line of the Fadda Crime Family, he antagonizes his brother at first, trying to take control of the family himself, but after Josto tried to get him killed by Loy Cannon and his gang, he understood his brother is the brains of the organization, whilst he's the muscle.
He was portrayed by Salvatore Esposito.
Appearance[]
Despite being Josto's younger brother, Gaetano is considerably taller, bigger and stronger than Josto's, however he's not as smart as him and acts purely out of spite as he's very short tempered. He also has great physical strength that he frequently uses as a weapon.
Biography[]
Loy Cannon's gang and the Fadda Crime Family start an alliance and following the tradition, each family lets their youngest son live with the other family until the alliance is over, Donatello Fadda, the Family's patriarch dies in an accident, leaving his oldest son Josto in charge, Gaetano arrives from Italy some time later with a challenging attitude and willing to take control of the family.
Behind Josto's back Gaetano commands Constant Calamita, one of their enforcers to kill Loy's eldest son, Lemuel. Calamita asks "Rabbi" Milligan (an adopted member of the family, who's taking care of Satchel, Loy's youngest son) to go with him, unaware of who the target is he starts asking questions before the hit, and when he realizes Josto didn't ordered it, he sabotages the hit and Lemuel escapes, Rabbi immediately goes to Josto to tell him of Gaetano's plan. Josto in anger menaces Gaetano.
Gaetano ignores Josto and then goes after Loy's mentor and negotiator Doctor Senator, killing him with the help of Calamita, in revenge, Loy hires to recently escaped convicts to find and kidnap Gaetano, they succeed and Loy and his men torture Gaetano to avenge Doctor Senator. When Josto finds out, he sees an opportunity to get rid of Gaetano and Calamita, so he arranges a meeting with Loy and lies to him, telling him Calamita killed Satchel and gives his permission to kill Gaetano in retribution, Loy refuses to do this and instead releases Gaetano, starting a war, Josto orders one of his men to kill Satchel, but Rabbi saves him and both escape from the mobsters.
Now free, Gaetano returns to the HQ of the family and beats up Josto, leaving him unconscious, as he found out he intended to get him killed, but when Josto wakes up, Gaetano realizes Josto's value for the family, recognizing Josto as the smarter brother, so he swears to serve him loyally.
Having made amends, the brothers go after Odis Weff, a rogue detective who used to help them but has switched sides, as they wait outside his apartment, they talk about their childhood in a truly brotherly mood, when Odis comes out, Gaetano gets off the car and shoots him death, but when returning to the car, trips and falls, accidentally shooting himself on the head as an astonished Josto witnesses, Gaetano's death causes Josto to fall in a depression that eventually results in his downfall and death.
