Gaia is the main antagonist of the 2023 anime Kamikatsu: Working for God in a Godless World. Essentially one of the Archons, one of the Emperor's most powerful soldiers, of the Imperial City that doubles as a fake god of the world Yukito was transported in, Gaia herself is responsible for controlling the monsters of the world of Kamikatsu known as "The Strange Beasts". Due to Gaia's lack of followers, she was unable to control most of them to the point that the Strange Beast went berserk and destroyed Yukito's village. After seeing her former compatriot, Loki, had millions of followers that made her powerful, she then decided to join forces to Yukito for pragmatical reason as she needs more followers to make her powerful. However, it was also revealed that she has an agenda of her own.
She is voiced by Ami Koshimizu in Japanese.
Biography[]
In the past, Gaia herself is revealed to be a child from a cultist society lead by her mother as she was groomed as the next leader of the cult. However, due to several abuse inflicted by her mother, Gaia was unable to take it anymore and decided to murder her. After murdering her mother, she then turns herself into an Archon. Fast forward to the present day, after Yukito and his cohorts help Loki revealing the truth of the Empire and destroy it so that they could begin anew, Gaia also decided to stop being the follower of the Emperor in the end. She was then first introduced when she fell unconscious which causes her monster to go out of control and destroyed Yukito's village. As Roy picked her up, Gaia then knocks Roy unconscious and then introduces herself to the heroes. In addition, she also gave the heroes information with what happened to Loki. After seeing Loki gaining more than million follower, Yukito then hatch a plan by making an idol group to amass more followers and let Gaia join the crew as a drummer. At the same time, Yukito also send the defeated Dakini to spy on Gaia and what she had done. In addition, Yukito also tries his best to distract Gaia so that she won't know what will happen. It was revealed that Gaia herself had manipulated several children to become her followers. As a result, Dakini then decided to lure said children into her side by hanging around with them. However, some of the children were displeased by Dakini's presence and almost attempt to murder her. Gaia, knowing something was up, decided to fight against the heroes and summon her ultimate beast despite the minuscule lack of follower known as Typhon. However, it was also revealed that Gaia also betray the children, viewing them as nothing but extension for her manipulation. During the fight, Typhon manages to capture both Mitama and Yukito as the latter was then tortured by Gaia herself several times until she realizes that Mitama was the person who manage to revive him. Fortunately, despite being captured, Yukito's companions then decided to save Yukito and Mitama using the power of idol. Despite their plan backfired, Atar decided to use a backup plan to help the heroes rescue Yukito, by having her followers to follow Mitama that made her more powerful. In the end, Gaia was defeated and Yukito decided to task one of Gaia's followers to keep an eye on her if she had done something dangerous.

- Gaia herself is named after one of the Goddess from Greek Pantheon. It is also stated that Gaia herself is a personification of Mother Earth and also bore several species in Greek Mythology such as the Titans, Cyclopes and Giants. This somehow makes sense in context as the parallels of Gaia can be shown with the motherly nature the anime Gaia has and how she uses children for her followers, even if it was for manipulation in the end. In addition, due to the fact that Gaia herself bore several species in mythology, it can be shown when Gaia herself is capable of creating Strange Beasts and possibly controlling them.
