Gaikotsumaru is a commander of the Blood Wheel Clan and the secondary antagonist of Henshin Ninja Arashi.
He was portrayed by Harumi Sone.
Biography[]
Gaikotsumaru first appears when he and a group of low-level Blood Wheel Ninja assault a village to test the powers of their new Monster Ninja, Poison Moray Eel, by having him slaughter a room full of civilians. When Kiju of the Valley, the creator of the Henshin Ninja scroll, and his son Hayate come to stop them, Gaikotsumaru decides to retreat now that they've gotten a taste of Poison Moray Eel's power.
After Kiju continued to defy the Blood Wheel Clan and turned Hayate into the Henshin Ninja Arashi to combat them, Devil Sai decided it was time they eliminated Kiju and took the Henshin Scroll for themselves. Gaikotsumaru was sent to take the scroll from Kiju and came across him just as he was about to burn the scroll, knocking it away from his hand with a shuriken. Gaikotsumaru attempted to persuade Kiju to hand the scroll over voluntarily, saying that Devil Sai could master its full power, but Kiju refused to go along with the Blood Wheel Clan's campaign of terror. As the battle between the two left the house, Devil Sai approached them and insisted Kiju become his right-hand man, a role his ancestors had previously served, but Kiju refused and thus Devil Sai ordered that he and his son Hayate be killed for their betrayal. Hayate was able to evade the Blood Wheel Clan's assassins and destroy Poison Moray Eel, but Kiju was fatally wounded by Gaikotsumaru before he could recover the scroll from them.
With the scroll in their possession, the Blood Wheel Clan sent their next Monster Ninja, Mashira to abduct civilians from a village. These civilians were brought to Gaikotsumaru, who forced them to work on building a new fort for the Blood Wheel Clan. Mashira's plan was later uncovered and he was defeated by Arashi.
After his many failures to defeat Arashi, Gaikotsumaru was punished by Devil Sai by being trapped under the foot of a Sphinx statue while Devil Sai forged an alliance with Akuma Doujin, head of the Western Youkai Corps, leaving the conquest of Japan in his hands while he departed. Upon Devil Sai's return, Gaikotsumaru was set free and given a mission to redeem himself by defeating Arashi. Gaikotsumaru successfully kidnapped Kasumi and Kageri to be used as hostages, but was defeated soon after by Arashi and the ninjas of the Iga Clan.
