Gareth is a major antagonist in Mega Man Xtreme 2. He is Berkana's right-hand and assisted her in erasing the souls of Reploids and turning them into items so Berkana can become the strongest Reploid in the world.
Personality[]
Gareth is loyal to Berkana, doing what he can to help her. Despite this, he can think for himself such as showing concerns over X and Zero's progress and suggesting they should act but trusts her judgement in the end. He can be cocky, taunting X and Zero along their journey and attempting to deceive them but is somewhat honorable, respecting their skill as Maverick Hunters. He keeps things fair and upholds his agreements against his opponents.
Biography[]
Gareth was built by Berkana in order to be her right-hand man. He would go on to steal the souls from Reploids, turning them into items and thus erasing their souls. He and Berkana would both use the items to become stronger in hopes for Bekana to become the strongest Reploid in the world. With the culprits behind the incident unknown, X and Zero were soon dispatched to solve the dilemma.
Gareth first meets X and Zero at Laguz Island after they defeat Skullhead, amazed by their skills. He pretends to be a Maverick Vigilante as "The eraser of evil Maverick souls" but Zero quickly looks through the facade. He decides to leave his full plan to their imaginations and challenges them to defeat all the Maverick Guardians before they can enter the lab. After a couple of Maverick Guardians were defeated, he speaks to Berkana over his concerns on their progress. Berkana declined his call for their termination, saying she wants them to become as strong as they can before they can destroy them. After all of the guardians were defeated, he decides to uphold his agreement and allow them to enter the laboratory. He apologized to X and Zero for thinking they were unworthy since they made it that far. Zero berated him for the many lives sacrificed for their insidious plot. He fought Zero afterwards but was destroyed. Zero returned the DNA Souls afterwards.
