“ | To think I could be defeated... Although my rival, you were spectacular. I shall take my bow by opening my heart and revealing my wisdom... If you shoot that which releases the sacred golden light into the blood-stained, red emblem outside the temple... it shall rearrange things, in which the earth is born in the heavens and the moon is born on the earth. Do not forget these words... Die I shall, leaving no corpse. That is the law of us Garo. | „ |
~ The Garo Master after being defeated by Link. |
The Garo Master is a major antagonist in the 2000 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and its 2015 remake.
He is the leader of the Garo tribe, who resides in the Stone Tower Temple and plots to overthrow his archenemy, Igos du Ikana, and take over the Ikana Kingdom.
Biography[]
Long ago, the Garo Master sent Garo spies to seek out territory in the Ikana Kingdom. Upon the spies being discovered, a war broke out between the Ikana and the Garo, with the Garo taking over the Stone Tower as their base, with many soldiers on both sides being killed.
Centuries later, Ikana Canyon has become nothing but a wasteland. The Skull Kid, possessed by Majora, arrives and revives the souls of the Ikana and the Garo, restarting the war and throwing the land into chaos.
Link, the Hero of Time, arrives in Ikana Canyon and uses the Elegy of Emptiness (taught to him by Igos du Ikana himself) to invade the Stone Tower. There, he travels to the center of the Stone Tower Temple and battles the Garo Master. After being defeated, the Garo Master informs Link of a way to flip the temple upside-down and commits ritual suicide, leaving behind the Light Arrows as a parting gift and ending the war between the Garo and the Ikana.
