Biography[]
Early life[]
Garrett and his brother Vince were both orphaned at a young age when their parents died in a car accident. Vince raised Garrett and the boy looked up to his older brother as a father figure.
Season Three[]
Vince suffered from a rare liver disease and was hospitalized. Garrett spent all his time in the hospital and ran into Clark Kent. Clark was very worried about his father, but Garrett tried to encourage him to have faith until they hear a code blue coming from Vince's room. They rush down the hall and saw Dr. MacIntyre attempting to revive Vince, but was unsuccessful and sadly passes away. With Vince gone, Garrett was alone but had a relative in Germany who would arrive in a few days. Instead of being placed in foster care, Mrs. Kent invited Garrett to stay with them instead.
At the Kent Farm, Garrett and Clark were talking about Vince when Martha came in to tell Garrett the crematorium called asking where they should send Vince's ashes. Garrett was confused and Clark took him to the morgue to sort it out. Garrett knew that Vince wanted to be buried next to his parents, but when he was given a file with Vince's signature on the cremation form, he believes it was forged. Clark and Garrett return to the Kent Farm just before Vince arrives.
Vince appeared alive again after leaving a laboratory in Metropolis. He wanted to leave with Garrett from Smallville. Unfortunately, whatever had brought Vince back to life only had a temporary effect and Vince fell ill, finding himself hospitalized yet again. When Vince mysteriously came back to life, Clark helped him get back to the hospital. Dr. MacIntyre explained that Vince's liver was rapidly deteriorating and Garrett was distraught at the idea of losing his brother again.
Unable to cope with the possibility of watching his brother die again, Garrett returned to the hospital with a bomb made of meteor rock, that his brother used in his demolition work, strapped to his chest demanding that Vince get a liver transplant immediately while he held the medical center hostage. Clark acquired a vial of Lazarus serum that had been used to revive Vince, hoping that another dose would keep him alive. Garrett took the call from Clark and agreed to trade most of the hostages for the vial of serum.
Clark was careful to keep his distance, but when the serum boils in Garrett's hand, Clark suspects that it was made from his blood. Doctor MacIntyre injects Vince in the correct location, but it does not revive him. Garrett insisted that he transplant Jonathan's liver to Vince. Dr. MacIntryre tried to explain that there was almost no chance of success, but Garrett was too desperate to listen and there are twenty other patients in the building.
Just as he was about to push the button on the detonator, a police sniper outside the hospital fired a round that penetrated Garrett's chest, killing him. In his death throes, Garrett pressed the detonator switch, but Clark used his super-speed to grab a lead apron from the radiology lab and with it, he grabbed the Kryptonite bomb off Garrett and wrapped it. Protected from the Kryptonite radiation, Clark rushed out into a field and threw the bomb down a well mine just as it exploded far from the medical center.
